Best critical care we’ve tried
Absolute godsend, my piggy lost so much weight and stopped eating. I tried the oxbow critical care feed in both flavours, but they didn’t like them. We were running out of options when the Vet gave us this to try, and the piggies absolutely love the flavour, her weight has stabilised and she gets excited when she hears me making it! She will eat this off a spoon and does not have to be syringe fed which has been causing her some distress. It smells nice, kind of like rice-pudding, but even if we didn’t like the smell we would 100% still be using this. 10/10 highly recommended even if your Guinea pig doesn’t like the other critical care supplements 🙌

A fantastic critical care food for poorly rabbits
I used to use another version of critical care food, but my rabbits were really upset when I syringed it into their mouths. I tried this in desperation and it has been a revelation. It's not what I expected it to be, but my rabbits love this food and syringe feeding is no longer upsetting for both my rabbits and me. It also mixes to such a smooth consistency that it flows through a 1ml syringe. Note: the consistency is akin to a fairly thick milkshake. You don't want a watery consistency. You need to use hot water, I let a kettle come to the boil and leave it a few minutes before adding to the powder. Let it cool, I drop a bit on my wrist then touch it to my lips to ensure it isn't too hot. But you need to use it quickly, but SAFELY. Make sure it isn't too hot. Make up a fresh batch each time you use it. But it's made a massive difference to my poorly rabbits. It isn't just for extreme situations. Use it after a dental or a neuter, just as you would any syringed feeding. Once open keep in the fridge.

Tasty for pigs and a must for pig owners
I first heard about emeraid through my vet, who was a rabbit specialist and therefore generally pretty good with guineas. My 6 year old pig was put on this to help give him all the nutrients he needed, as he was losing weight. A relief knowing you can help keep their guts going and give them all the nutrients they need if they are poorly. I currently have three further boys, all who love the taste (I sometimes use it as a treat if I have an open bag of it, so they are not wary of a new food if they ever become sick). They lap it up! Much better than critical care, but my new vet (at the RVC, very good with exotics) has suggested that mixing these sorts of foods is fine in order to find something that works for your animal. Just make sure you have a large syringe for it and make sure you know how much to be giving a pig per day, and get the right consistency. I believe its around 40ml per day for an adult male pig, if they are still eating but need a boost.

A must have
Really great for weight gain in poorly guinea pigs. Helped my girl with calcified bulla syndrome keep weight on until she eventually passed from her symptoms - helped improve quality of life, I always keep on hand as if it could help her with her weight I have my full faith in this product helping a guineapig who didn’t have as many chronic issues as she did

Great for guinea pig weight gain
My guinea pig is recovering from jaw surgery and had lost a lot of weight because of it. This has helped him so much putting the weight back on. I don't even have to use a syringe for him to take it, so it must taste good.

Good but you don't get much for the price
So my 6 year old male guinea pig has has some problems with his teeth / thyroid for a couple of months, resulting in him losing 300g. He does eat normal food but needs to eat multiple times per day just to maintain weight. We've been trying this for about 4 days and I must say he absolutely goes crazy for it and his weight has stabilised. Yes, it does smell of porridge and the smell seems to linger for hours after using but he goes crazy The moment he gets a whiff of it. The big negative to this is price. I've managed to get not much more than 5 days out of a pack, using 20ml per day. At £18 a pack, that would be £108 per month. I've yet to work out whether I'm mixing wrong or it just doesn't last long and the instructions might as well be written in Swahili. Would I use again in a life or death situation? Most definitely but, for my needs as a weight stabiliser, it's just way too expensive.
