Review: Great collection of her English songs, but such a generic misleading title. - If EMI Latin wanted to release a collection full of her English songs, then they should have thought that while trying to put her Dreaming of You album together since it was originally going to be comprise of all English songs. I guess they wanted to include her Spanish songs on Dreaming of You just to show how versatile she was and introduce the world to her signature songs. Just slapping this release with "Greatest Hits" is just not appropriate, lazy, uncreative, and misleading. When you think of her "greatest hits", you think of "Como La Flor", "Amor Prohibido", "Bidi Bidi Bom Bom", and "No Me Queda Mas". Apart from "Dreaming of You" and "I Could Fall In Love", I don't consider most of these English songs on this compilation to be her true "greatest hits". A true Selena fan knows that her greatest hits were mainly her Spanish songs. It was a great effort to release a collection of all her English songs. They did sounded like sure fire hits. I wish EMI Latin would have a made her crossover artist from the very beginning of her career instead of waiting so long to make her into one til it was too late. By 1989, she had already showed that she was a well-developed singer who had so much potential. Screw that "she needed to build her own fanbase first" excuse. She would have been very well able to develop a fanbase just the same way. She had the voice and she was a wonderful performer. She had all the incredible makings of a pop star. It never took so long to make Gloria Estefan a crossover artist. She was already one in the beginning of her career. I don't see why her label had to deny Jose Behar's request. He was right about Selena being "Gloria Estefan in the making".
