Great product; Poor packaging -- BEWARE WHEN OPENING!
This product works well to create a temporary seal and trap water, but the leakage area must be reinforced with something harder and more permanent, since over time water will slowly dissolve the bentonite clay. This granulated clay did exactly what I had hoped it would do. I am developing a spring which is emanating from a crack in the rock face of a sheer cliff wall. I needed to seal off the area around a 2-inch collection pipe inserted into the crack in the rock, out of which which the water is constantly flowing, and thus force the water to come out through the pipe. I was able to pour in about a quart of the dry granulated mix, lay in the pipe, pour another quart of the dry bentonite mixture over and around the pipe, thus sealing the crack and forcing the water to back up and come out through the pipe. I immediately covered the pipe and clay mixture with quick-setting concrete, permanently sealing off the areas around the pipe within the crack. Now the water, instead of pouring out of the crack in the rock, is coming out of the pipe, so that I can take it to a collection tank and from there into my water system via PEX pipe.My only complaint is in the packaging. The seller merely placed a flimsy black garbage bag into a large USPS Flat Rate box, then filled up the bag to the volume of the box. They then closed up the box WITHOUT BOTHERING TO CLOSE UP AND SEAL THE BAG. When I opened the box and attempted to remove the bag, the granules spilled out all over my workbench and floor before I could locate the bag opening and stop the flow. WHAT A MESS! AND I lost about 5 pounds of material on my dirty shop floor. So the seller should: (1) Use a better bag (I transferred the remaining granules to a heavy clear plastic bag and put it into a bucket with a lid to keep it dry for future use); and (2) Use an inexpensive twist tie to seal the bag before closing up the box.I assessed a 1-star penalty to the seller for their unbelievably poor and lazy packaging.

Works pretty good
Bought this to seal a leak in our pond. It has taken a bit of trial and error on our part, but it seems to be getting the job done. We have one more leak to try and find but hopefully o ce we do we will be able to finally keep water in the pond again.

Stopped a 4" well from leaking
I syphoned out 4-5 ft of water from an old well casing that was leaking, then poured this clay down in. The clay swelled up and closed off the seal

Not for small ponds.
Attempted to seal a cracked concrete fish pond with this. Apparently it works when you put a few inches of sand or dirt over a thick layer of this. I did not as that would have filled in my pond. It just made a huge mess that I then had to clean out. Disappointing expensive mess. Also don’t be confused by the scented trash bag it’s not kitty litter.

It came in a garbage bag!
It came poured loosely in a garbage bag, not in the packaging in the photo. There were NO instructions on how to mix or use it.

OK
Only 4 stars because it shipped in a trash bag with no labeling. (nothing to verify what it was)
