CD reissue of this 1978 album from the Bluegrass legend. Earl Scruggs is best known as the banjo playing half of Flatt & Scruggs. Earl issued many solo albums throughout the 1970s, many with his group, the Earl Scruggs Revue, which featured Randy and Gary Scruggs.

The Earl Scruggs Revue needs to be better known.
Earl Scruggs and his three sons make "The Earl Scruggs Revue" a great band country/western/rock band. This is one of 8 or 10 albums that they made. The bank broke up sometime after Earl's youngest son, Steve, who played piano in the band, died in an accident. The other two, Randy (a great guitar player) and Gary (a pretty good singer) are nice to listen to. As for Gary's singing, I love it, but have to admit that he's not in the class of a Willie Nelson. I seem to like singers with average voices. That's why I love Bob Dylan and Lucinda Williams. The Earl Scruggs review recorded a lot of Bob Dylan's songs. Their version of "Mandolin Wind" (not on this record) is better than the one made by the author of the song, Rod Stewart, mainly because of Earl's banjo in the background.

Great LP , Stands The Test Of time.
I bought this on vinyl back in the late 70's when it came out. It's not at all Flatt and Scruggs type music. It is really very good and deserved more attention than it got. I'd still play it if I could find my turntable.
