The Flasher Woodpecker/Bird Deterrent is wind operated and it is best hung from the outside corner of buildings. At this location it can receive wind from 270 degrees, as well as increasing visibility to the woodpecker. If trees are present at these locations, move the flasher to a point that receives not only wind but is visible from the area that is receiving woodpecker damage. It is usually not necessary to put it directly at the point of activity, however try to keep it within 20 feet of the damage area. Comes complete with a wire arm for mounting with a drywall screw to the side of the structure.

As skeptical as I was, I have to admit, these things work! The woodpecker will come back after installation, but he quickly becomes uncomfortable and moves on.

We bought this item because it stated it would detract ...
We bought this item because it stated it would detract woodpeckers. This is not the case. We had it put on our house and guess what. The woodpecker that has put about 12 holes in the front of our house, started pecking away just under the bird deterrent. The only thing that stopped this bird was me yelling at it. I guess the only way I can stop this pesky bird is to stand in front of my house and yell at it as soon as it starts pecking.

Only kept woodpecker away 8 feet in either direction. If you bought multiple ones it may work better
