MDN® HD1080S 1080p Full-HD Ultra Portable Digital Media Player for USB Drives and SD/SDHC Cards *HDMI Included* - Silver

I am soon to feature this item in my GIZMO column of our Steve & Pat's Cheap Travel Newsletter. I purchased the MDN player for our five weeks trip to Australia. of the many possible uses I had two major ones in mind and it worked in fine fashion for both. First, as a media player to play a library of movies and videos I had downloaded to several flash drives. Not only do we have one large flat screen at home that is not a 'smart' TV but especially when traveling, as In Australia, we find non-smart flat screens that always have HDMI connectivity and voila all our videos are playable in full 1080p. Second, I can pull SD and Micro SD cards out of my cameras, cell phone and/or tablets and easily play them on these same flat screens using the MDN. Another use, not major but still hand, is to play back-up films on the two portable hard drives we travel with. This avoids having to set up our laptop and lets us play the drives directly through the MDN which is always plugged, with HMDI cable attached to the flat screen and ready to go. Can't beat this unit, especially for its light size and ultra light price.

UPDATE #2** - Contacted company on issue. They were prompt, impersonal, but prompt. Sending out a replacement. Will update further.UPDATE #1** - I tried re-designating the inputs via TV menu. I tried every input, I used a spare RCA cord, I used the ROKU cord. I tried the HDMI to my laptop but it does not even recognize it. I'm out of ideas.I *JUST* got this in the mail. Hooked it up and it does not work. The vertical hold just keeps going and going and going.I managed to click on a video in my USB, hoping that something would happen and it would settle down but it does not.I have hooked it up to different inputs but it does not matter, it does not work.Using the component hook up. My TV is a big screen Mitsubishi HD 1080, no HDMI. Several component hookups, not one works with this.Very disappointing. Now I have to send it back and go through this mess.

Buttons on the remote are very small so hard to use & the sound needs to be turned way up to hear properly. If I planned on this being my main playback option I would have returned it but since it will only be used as a backup or travel option it is OK for the price.

Small and portable, great for traveling like I do from Tampa, Atlanta, Dubai and Afghanistan every few months. Great for hotels and the media card allows me to see small videos and pictures from our families other devices.

Lovely product.. The LED power light is tooo bright, and the remote control is too directional. Other than that I like this product
