Early Times: The Story of the Renaissance Paperback – Illustrated, May 1, 1997

It is a comprehensive story, yet short and compact. There are no redundant passages in the book. There are not many illustrations in the book either, the author for example says look at pictures in any other source and figure it out who is such and such person standing at the right! The book was intended for students of a course and is perfect for that purpose. If it could be extended with adequate number of art illustrations it would be a good book for any one interested in the history of Renaissance. Over all I enjoyed and learned great deal from it.

This is a much higher level of history than I am used to, but I think my daughters will love it. They are a bit tired of being talked down to in books.
