No Fairy Tale is Lisa Loeb's first rock album in 8 years. Co-Produced by New Found Glory's Chad Gilbert and Lisa herself, the album features Loeb's brand of quirky lyrics and rollicking guitar licks. With the help of Gilbert and engineer Brad Wood (Smashing Pumpkins, Liz Phair), Loeb has taken her songcraft to a new level balancing a professional sound with a more spontaneous imperfect energy which reflects the snappier production schedule instilled by Gilbert. No Fairy Tale contains 12 brand new tracks including the title track & first single along with 2 songs written by acclaimed Canadian rock duo Tegan and Sara.

Lisa Loeb Experiment
Enjoy this album for its stories of Lisa's life. Her distinct voice and vocal range are demonstrated throughout the album. Without the shackles of a major label, Lisa presents a raw album of various musical ideas and poetic themes. Reminiscent of her freshman album, Tails, the album feels like several sparks from an explosion of ideas. I hope this is the first of many more albums.Immediately, I find no bad songs. But after its first listen through, no songs stick out. I'll keep this album on repeat for a while, and I'm sure a few songs will float to the top of my list. I'll definitely enjoy making my own interpretations of her seemingly simplistic lyrics. At my age, music does not have the same effect as my teenage years, however hearing Lisa's voice singing new songs transports me to that time of ignorant omnipotence, actual uncertainty.ProsVoice and range highlighted throughout the album. The Lisa Loeb "Sound" remains; no surprises.ConsTrack layout seems haphazard.

No Fairy Tale But Plenty of Energy
Unlike many acoustic singer-songwriters, Lisa Loeb has chosen to evolve. "No Fairy Tale" is easily her most energetic and pop-rock infused album to date. From the clever opening line of the title track, to the guitar hook of 'The 90's', to pop-rockin' 'A Hot Minute', to the dark humor of 'The Worst', this is Lisa Loeb's most unique album overall. Yes, there are standard Lisa songs such as 'Weak Day' and 'Walls' but that is not to say those songs are less than enjoyable; just standard for what you've come to expect from Lisa. But the collaborations she's done on this album have resulted in something pleasantly new and invigorating. If I could own only one Lisa Loeb album, this one just might be it.

No Fairly Tale is a good CD. I follow her on my Music related Twitter account, she, me, a nice lady, performer!.
I have her '95 "Tails" release, bought because of "Stay", it has a nearly "folk" sound, I like her album, but not as much as Jewel's sound, she has a "glasses line" wife's 80+ mother likes her Lisa Loeb glasses, who knew? Am a music lover, many kinds of music, like the album better than my "free" promo "A Holiday Song" - get her Tails, if you like it, get more, Our musical tastes are not all the same, it is a good CD to add to your music collection. Anyone who likes Cats as I do, is a good bet, cats are like women.. graceful, warm, and purr when petted. 8^)

Every song is a winner !
As always, Lisa's music is a breath of fresh air. Someone once said (and I believe I read it from a review on Amazon) She is the record industries best kept secret. Yes this album has a little more edge to it than the previous ones, but as far as I'm concerened, she is growing. There are still nice harmonies as well as great lyrics and some nice guitar playing. I might offend someone here but, to anyone who doesn't like it, I guess she might as well put out Firecracker Pt.2 or son of Cake and Pie. I just hope we won't have to wait 8 years for the next one.

Loeb Rocks On This One
This CD has a new twist for Lisa Loeb. This album does rock a little more than usual and I have her Very Best Of CD which is great in itself but this new offering did surprise me. It is a great album and the key tracks here are "No Fairy Tale" , "A Hot Minute", and "Sick, Sick, Sick". Lisa Loeb did good on this one.

New sound, same Lisa!
A new, great sound for Lisa. Poppy, punky - definitely different from her other songs, but a refreshing change of pace. I went to see her on the "No Fairy Tale" tour, where she played songs from Purple Tape/CD all the way up to this release, and it was so great to hear the progression of her songwriting since then and be able to appreciate all of her work. An awesome CD, highly recommended to new and old fans alike!

Lisa Loeb- No Fairy Tale
Seems a bit louder in places compared to her previous work(most notably "The 90's" which rocks like The Pretenders at their best) but basically this is a solid album that will please her fan base and would be as good a place as any for a newcomer to start.
