The monoprice 6.5" rings for install in a new house are 8" and fit perfectly. **Q: What is the mounting depth for these speakers** A: MAYBE 4 INCHES **Q: Does this work with bluetooth ?** A: These are just the speakers. I have a head unit that has Bluetooth hooked up to these speakers **Q: Will I need an amplifier and receiver for these and if so what would be the best type for the 8 speakers** A: You do need an amplifier/ receiver yes. I bought a 6 zone Pyle amplifier with speakers in different areas of the house. Heads up these have little bass to the speakers. A great speaker for the price! ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great functional overheads for cheapskates like me, but the low cost means trade-offs *by T***L on January 21, 2021* The speakers come with a cutout template for the hole you need to install them (which is kind of a bare minimum standard, really, but it's good that you have what you need). They sound great for the proportionally small amount of content that gets piped to overhead speakers for Atmos and DTS:X movies. Would $500 speakers sound even better? I'd assume so, but I'll never know, because I'll never be able to justify spending that kind of money on this specific purpose. What I do know is they sound great for my uses and, while there are some tonal changes between them and my main speakers (Polk Monitor 60 s2), they're not "bad" in comparison. They serve their purpose well of creating height continuity for moving audio. Useful to know: the tweeter is aimable, but not by much. It tilts up to 15 degrees, that's it. If you need something to angle directly at your listening position (like the Dolby spec 45 degrees) these won't do it. That's my biggest criticism and where I think there's an argument to spend more on a speaker that has more play in the aiming angle. Happy to get 4 speakers for less than $100 and I have no regrets.
