These really work well ... and if there's a problem, service is great
Ideally I would give these 4.5 stars. They are great for wearing while sleeping, even on your side. Super light and far, far more comfortable than earbuds for that purpose. Sound quality is surprisingly good for such small devices. The cord is more substantial than ear bud cords, so it doesn't really tangle at all. They aren't noise cancelling, so if you expect that your partner's snoring will be drowned out, you'll be disappointed. And they don't change the laws of physics, so if you sleep on your side, it will be louder in that ear than in the other. The one minor issue is that the spot where the wire joins the cord is a little uncomfortable after a while. Might be better if it had some foam padding.Edited to add: after about 6 months the left earphone went dead. I contacted Bedphones via the Amazon e-mail service and promptly got a code to use on their website to get a free replacement, including free shipping. It does seem as if a lot of the reviews say that reliability is a problem; on the other hand, they work so well for me and the customer service was so good that I'm keeping my review the same.

Comfortable but do not last long.
So I love the concept of these unfortunately they did not last long for me. I was hoping the 3rd time would be the charm but with no luck. I use the head phones while I sleep. Unfortunately they tend to stop working after 2-6 weeks (for me). I suspect the wires become loosened from connections specially where you plug them into your device. The first week or two they work well, then I have trouble from hearing from one side and then eventually both sides give. They are comfortable and then they just can't take the ware of being used during sleep for a long period of time. This can be costly (the first two were $60 and the last was $40). If you are looking for headphones to sleep I can recommend Panasonic RP-HS46E-W Slim Earhook Headphone (White) which were $15 or CozyPhones Sleep Headphones with Travel Bag - Ultra Thin Earphones - Most Comfortable Headphones for Sleeping - Perfect for Air Travel, Relaxation, Meditation & Insomnia - BLACK which were $16.

Early failure.
Did not last that long. Worked decently and were reasonably comfortable for sleeping. They are nicely adjustable and the cord is thick and tough and they don't dislodge when you roll over in your sleep. But the foam covering wore out after a few months and one of the speakers just quit. I limped along using just one for a while, then they just died. Not worth the purchase at all. If they worked, I'd give them three stars. As it is, I have to give them an "I hate it" for failing after a short time.

Great idea, but Uncomfortable Awakening, not as Efficient as Earbuds
They seem comfortable when first putting them on, but the person I got them for wakes up with hurting ears, in spite of following the instructions. Sometimes the soreness is from the ear hook behind the ear, other times the front of the ear. Obviously fit will vary from person to person. The sound quality is ok, but the efficiency of these is not as good as with other earbuds, Specifically the volume needs to be turned louder when using these BedPhones, thus the battery may run down faster. The cord is a bit heavier weight than various brands of earbuds I have used, including some Sony's that lasted a year before going bad. Hopefully that means these earbuds may be more durable when tossing and turning at night. I'm not sure why there is an inline microphone, not typically used during sleep, but maybe they are anticipating people using them while not sleeping as well. When they arrived, the foam cushions were packed in a funny way that didn't take advantage of the rather decent semi-rigid case they come with, and the foam was all compressed so that there was no cushioning (given the price I was expecting better packing than that). Fortunately they come with extra foam sleeves.

Great, But Not Perfect
I really like these headphones, but they are a little overpriced in my opinion. Still, at this point, I don't regret buying them and would buy them again. The bass is a little weak, but I was able to compensate for this with EQ settings. They are very comfortable, though a little hard to get on, especially in the dark. Once on however they seem to stay in place much better than my sleepphones, are more comfortable and since they are not a headband they are not as hot. I've read several reviews mentioning that they stopped working after a while. I can see how this would happen. Since the wires go through the over the ear clips I could think the continual rebending each time you put them on would eventually cause the wires inside to break. I would like them better if the ear clips and the wires were separate. Even better would be if they were Bluetooth compatible. But without a band to put them in I think it would be difficult.Today I used them while mowing the lawn underneath my ear protection and they were perfect for that as well. All in all, a good general headphone and they fit well when sleeping once on properly.

Generation 3 Bedphones: A fantastic leap forward!
The Generation 3 Bedphones are a significant improvement over Gen 2. The cabling is much sturdier than the previous generation, which was a place that I had problems with. That being said, I have purchased both the Gen 2 and the Gen 3, and have been very pleased with the quality of the customer service and the earphones themselves. The sound quality is really good, coming from a speaker that is so thin, which is a huge surprise. They are comfortable, once I got them adequately formed to my ears, and they stay in place well even though I can be a restless sleeper.Customer service is extremely responsive and professional, responding to contacts within a few hours to a day, even over the weekend. As I've said, this isn't my first pair of Bedphones. It certainly won't be my last.
