Incomplete
It's easy to follow along and the premise of the novel is interesting albeit implausible today in modern America. As someone who knows barely anything about military aircraft and dogfights, I felt it did a good enough job at relaying the fast paced, pulse pounding tension of the endeavor. The characters for a lack of a better term are shallow. I felt the one commonality that most of the characters had was the inability to commit to monogamous relationships. However its worst offence is a sequel bait ending which left me feeling bitter and wanting to read another one of Tom Clancy's novels.

and I did enjoy it a great deal
This was definitely not a genuine Tom Clancy book, but it did fit in the Tom Clancy Universe, and I did enjoy it a great deal. It was definitely not as intricate or developed, but then again Tom Clancy was Tom Clancy. Years ago when this book came out I blew it off as too far fetched. Today, in 2017 it's hard to believe this kind of thing is far fetched anymore. 1998 impeachment, 2000 presidential tie, 9/11/01, the invasion of Iraq and the 15 years of political debate over it, the 2007 global economic apocalypse that was avoided, Arab Spring, civil war in Egypt, Libya and Syria sent into yrs of anarchy, and through it all private contractors got more and more business. I don't see a coup in the nation's future, but after the 2017 election....it's not unimaginable. Yes, the characters could be developed more, and the high school 'he was good in bed' repetition could have been reduced, but the theme is good, the tech is very good, and in the end it comes down to the simple question of did I enjoy it? Yeah, absolutely! It was a fun read, and well worth buying imo

Government Intrigue and American Patriotism
The Prologue peaked my interest and then the story began. Personally, I could have done with a little less lead up to the government coup and more of the action behind Harris's actions. The story had several twists and turns that left the reader wanting to know what happens to Jenny, where Arnold fits in and what the next steps are in the re-establishment of the US Government.

An almost "Clancy-like" thriller but....
Although this was not really-really written by Clancy himself, the story left me for wanting more in what appears to be the "norm" nowadays whenever sequential books are planned. In this instance, the author left me wondering just what the heck is going on especially with the main protagonist-pilots and what the government will plan next, read this, the author is planning next. It is a good summer-read, but for sure it doesn't grasp the readers interest like a "real" Clancy written novel.

Not his best.
Not the intrigue I have found in some of his books. Ending seemed a little rushed. Strange ending setting up another book.

Good Quick Read
Quick read. Interesting premise. Sorry to say, but it is believable. We should guard against totalitarian from all forms. Good book.

Tom Clanc's HAWX with David Michaels
A favourite author of mine. I have enjoyed his books over the years and recommend this book even with the assistance of another writer.

Kick the tires and light the fires
This is a really fun read. It felt like Top Gun and a little iron Eagle throwing in there. What I mean by that is this feels like an 80s movie. That's not a bad thing I enjoy Tom Clancys books. This was a good one some great dogfighting action. Interesting characters some good twists and turns. I wish there's a little more character development the ending wasn't the best. But there's nothing here to make up for that if you like plane the plane combat. Really shocking death. Or just looking for something to bring back my memories of 80s like movies. I say give this a read
