This ring is used for extreme macro close up photography. Both sides are threaded with 55mm male threads. It is suitable for manual and auto focus lenses. The lens mounted in the reverse position must be focused manually but the lens can be either manual or auto focus. Any brand or type of lens can be used as long as it has 55mm threads.

Reversing a lens is a lot more work than just grabbing the macro but it's nice to have the option.

I bought this for my Minolta 135 2.8 to be reversed with a Minolta 28 2.5. I can vouch for this working very well so far.When I first felt the ring though, it really didn't feel like metal to me. It is kind of on the thin side which I wasn't expecting. It might well just be metal but it just doesn't feel like it, and it's really light.Either way, the product worked but I didn't want to give the full 5 stars just because it doesn't feel as robust as I thought it would be.
