Did not work - No help from the seller while in the U.S. or in Mexico
This is the first time I felt compelled to write a review after being an Amazon customer since its earliest days. After being the recipient of invaluable advice and insight from Amazon reviewers, I hope this review will help somebody avoid my frustration with this purchase. The SIM card sold by Mexico SIM Card was fulfilled by Amazon. After following the seller's "test" instructions, I was able to verify that the phone was "roaming" in the U.S. with the Telcel SIM card. I also received an email from the seller that the activation was successful. However, there was a notification on my Android phone that the SIM card was from an unknown source. I called the phone number provided with the package to address the notification and fix any potential problems before I left for Mexico. I left two voice messages as nobody ever picked up the line. This was two days prior to leaving for Mexico, but I received no return calls from the seller. With no time to have another SIM card delivered before my departure, I took this SIM card with me. Upon arriving in Mexico, I received the same notification: "Phone Activation: This SIM card is from an unknown source" and was unable to place a phone call or receive any data (I had purchased a data package for the SIM card directly from the seller's website). I did not test whether I was able to place an emergency call, but my guess is that it would have been possible. I was receiving phone signals, but since I was using an unactivated or defective SIM card, I only received pre-recorded error messages from Telcel when trying to place a call. The day after I arrived in Mexico, I sent an email to the seller asking for assistance. Still no response whatsoever, even after several days and even after completing my trip and returning to the U.S. Just so you know, before leaving the country, I double-checked and verified through my U.S. wireless provider that my phone is unlocked and ready to accept an overseas SIM card. Further, I have used overseas SIM cards in other countries and with other phones without any problems in the past.So despite their claim that all their SIM cards are tested and have a zero defect rate, I had a SIM card that didn't work. Maybe this could have been resolved very easily through some phone settings on my end or some action on their end, but as the seller never returned any of my messages for help, I will never know. It's even possible that the error notification has nothing to do with not being able to use the phone or mobile data. Since the hotel free wi-fi was spotty at best and slower than dial-up when working, I didn't feel like wasting even more time researching the problem while on vacation.I would suggest searching for a different option than buying a SIM card from Mexico SIM Card (I passed two Telcel locations from the airport to the hotel). It may or may not work for you, and if it doesn't, my experience suggests that you will be on your own. If you are willing to take the gamble and buy from them, you can purchase the basic SIM card on Amazon (with the 100 pesos pre-loaded -- about 15-20 minutes of talk or 50MB of data) and "refill" the SIM card with additional talk and data packages from the seller's website. They offered a 10% discount for doing so with the coupon code "AMZN10." (This was offered in an email I received after activating the SIM card using the instructions that come with the package.) If you look at the various options and pricing, you will see that this is the cheapest route to take. Also, based on a reply from the seller to a message I sent to them before making my purchase, they will also include a courtesy 20-30 minutes of talk time if you purchase a SIM card with 1.5GB of data via Amazon (just add a note when activating your SIM card). However, everything is grossly expensive if you pay anything and receive nothing as I did.Amazon was great as usual with their customer service and agreed to refund my purchase of the base SIM card without having to deal with the hassle of returning the useless SIM card. I have little faith in any response from the seller concerning my email requesting a refund of my purchase made directly on their website for additional data. Thankfully, I just received an email from my credit card company that the dispute I initiated through them was resolved in my favor.

Careful when phone is activated if relying on included minutes!
Instructions included said to put sim card into phone to test before going on trip. This activated the card so the minutes that came with the card would expire in 2 weeks according to my understanding of the Telcel account for the phone number. However, I was not planning to use the phone until a month later. So I bought more time on the Telcel site even though I had not expected to use more than the initial amount included with the sim card. The seller was prompt in responding to my questions and said that I did not need to buy additional minutes. However since the Telcel web site said "Expirado!" I wasn't about to wait until I needed the phone to find out if the seller was correct.

Great buy, way less than most cost.
Was skeptical that it would work, but it did perfectly. I had no problems.

Worked like a charm -- even in the US. Great reception on the Yucatan Peninsula.
