Elmer's Opposites Board book – Picture Book, January 1, 2012

Just a few pages of a couple different things that are opposites. Shouting,whispering, skinny and fat. Tall short. Black white

The illustration on the first page is not so clear. A baby/toddler is unlikely to see the two animals described on that page unless they were pointed out and the child is concentrating hard. Picture books should have stronger clarity in illustrations. The last page has an illustration of an elephant that happens to have black and white checked patterns and the accompanying description "Black is Black. White is white. Wilbur is both." Not sure what the point of that is as it doesn't remark on opposites. Black and white are just colours. The purpose of this book is meant to be about learning the concept of opposites. A better concept in this regard would be the contrast between light and dark shades or between day and night for example.

Elmer Elephant books arrived in very fast time, for family gift.Lovely quality, and story.
