Lava Lunch Heated Lunch Box Keeps Your Food Hot, Blueberry

I bought this lunch box for my almost 2 year old to take to school for lunch. He started preschool at the beginning of the month, and for the first two weeks of school he barely ate due to his lunches being cold. So I spent a lot time researching options to keep his food warm, and I decided on the lava lunch box. The first day I sent it to school his teachers were just as excited as I was to see if it worked. Well when I picked him up his teachers told me how much of difference it made in his interest in lunch. He ate all of his food AND the food was still hot. They both were saying they wanted a lunch box for themselves. I've experimented with the lunch box as well to see for myself if it works, and it does! three hours after placing the food in the lunch box it was still nice and hot. So overall I would say this is a good investment.The only reason I didn't give the product a five star is because this morning after 1 1/2 weeks of use the big lava rock burnt up. I notice last week that one particular area of the plastic was sticking to the rock so prior to placing it in the microwave I would pull the plastic up to ensure it wasn't sticking. Well this morning when I started seeing smoke billowing out of the microwave I knew something was wrong... Sure enough it was the area that had been sticking that was burning. So now I need to contact the company to see how I can get replacement Lava Rocks because I think for almost 50 dollars the rocks shouldn't be burning up within two weeks. I'd also like to add that I follow directions to the detail...I flip the rocks and only place them in the microwave for the length of time that corresponds to the wattage of our microwave.

It works really well! I was a little skeptical at first and it did take a little getting used to - but once I got used to this new lunchbox, it works great. The trick is to find the right heating time for your type of microwave, and to heat your food Hot, before you pack it. The Lava Lunch won't actually heat your food up, like I initially thought it would, but if you put it in there hot, it'll sure keep it that way. The bag is really sturdy and well made, and not to mention really cute. There's a mesh pocket on the side that's roomy enough for fruit, snacks or a good size water bottle. This is probably the best lunch tote I've ever had.

My son is a fairly picky eater, so LavaLunch gives me the option to send hotdogs or quesadillas or mac n' cheese to school with him, knowing they stay nicely hot. I wrap the hotdogs or quesadillas in tin foil. I use glass containers for mac n' cheese. I put the whole hot lunch tote inside another larger tote for his water, apple, carrots and cukes, The "lava" rocks and glass container means the lunch is a bit heavier than his ordinary lunch box, but on days when I drive him to school, the weight isn't a consideration. He's always delighted on the days he gets his "lava lunch."

I ordered one lava lunch for my daughter. It's so good I ended up ordering one for everyone in the household. It's especially good for families on a budget. I pack left overs which saves me a fortune. The family loves a home cooked hot lunch!
