I am having fun with these agar trays! I bought these trays to test some of my water-based aromatherapy products. I was taught in Aromatherapist Certification classes that water-based aromatherapy products grow bacteria faster than oil-based products. Also, that water-based products should last from one (1) to three (3) months depending on storage, age of the ingredients, cleanliness of the bottles, etc. So, I wanted to test a product to find out how long it would take to grow bacteria. The product is six (6) weeks old now and is not bad yet!Now that I have tested a single product stored at room temperature, I want to find out how storing the water-based product in the refrigerator will change the rate of bacterial growth. That is, I want to find out how much longer a water-based product will stay good if I store it in the refrigerator.This product came packed in a sealed box with tape on it stating to not accept the package if the tape seal is broken. The ten (10) trays came wrapped in bubble wrap, so nothing was broken or cracked. The cotton swabs were sealed in paper (like a band-aid) and in a plastic baggie with the hand sanitizer. It may seem funny to give a product like this 5 stars, but I like these so much that I will be ordering more for my next experiment!

All the items arrived in perfect condition - note the size of the plates are smaller than normal, but just right for kids in our opinion. We messed up a few plates due to an inaccurate thermometer, but customer service was superb - answered right away and walked us through it, helping us find the minutest colony on the agar plate to inoculate other plates. It worked!!! Science fair experiment came out perfect and gained entry into a regional science fair. Highly recommend! (By the way, we opted to buy a separate pack of transfer pipettes since we needed quite a few, rather than getting the upgraded kit like this with only two pipettes.)

My little brother is doing a science fair project and the agar in the Petri dish RIPPED when he swabbed the sample inside!!! We tried it on THREE different Petri dishes and they all ripped!!!!! Like what the heck????!! Never had I seen agar rip like that with a GENTLE swabbing motion!! They agar wasn’t even thick it is just a very thin layer!! I DO NOT RECOMMEND!! I’m so upset I didn’t take pictures of the other ones that ripped but that one picture of the others that cracked and ripped. Terrible terrible quality!!

This year for my son's science project he was in need of already prepared agar plates in order to grow bacteria for his experiment. I found this kit and the plates worked perfectly! The plates were ready to use and in good shape plus they were enclosed in a resealable bag so if you weren't able to use them right away they wouldn't dry out. Sterile swabs, antibacterial hand sanitizer and an informational e-book were also included which came in handy, although if I were to make one recommendation some sterile pipettes would complete the kit. Recommended!

Perfect. They worked beautifully. At first, I was mildly annoyed that I had to buy more than I needed because of the way it's packaged, but trust me, your kid WILL need extras. Things get dropped and "accidentally" touched. We only had a few left, and my kid had a great time growing disgusting things on the leftovers. Each package came with swabs and a little bottle of hand sanitizer. Great product. Will definitely buy again.

We ordered these for my son and daughter to use for their science fair project. They were delivered quickly and packed well, but there were still some cracks in the material. But it didn't seem to impact the functionality of this kit. Their project went very well. They were able to grow a lot of gross bacteria in these and they were really excited with the results.

Arrived in good condition, ready to use, sat at room temp with no issue for a week. We "incubated" our samples by placing plates in plastic ziplock bags (to prevent drying) and placed upside down in the ceiling of the laundry room directly under the heat duct where the temp avg was 83 degrees. We had colonies within 24 hours. Very happy with product and will purchase more to repeat and expand experiment.

Our homeschool biology class used these and they grew bacteria well. One of the jells came cracked but it still grew bacteria.We then did gram-staining which went very well. I will most likely purchase these again.
