Great pruning shears!
I have purchased other brand name pruning shears that turned out to have critical parts made of plastic & broke shortly after the first few cuts! These shears are made of medal,ALL critical parts in these shears are medal except the grip cover & a locking lever button! The only reason I didn't rate them five stars is because the jaws don't open larger than about 1/2" by them selves you have to pull slightly on the handgrip so they open all the way for larger branches. Once fully open they ratchet cut just as they are supposed to do with ease! So far they have cut every branch I could fit between their jaws, great product!

Poor quality
After the second use, the ratchet slips. The first groove that the ratchet sits in is smashed down so it keeps slipping. I kept wondering what the problem was until I took the time to look. I have another one that I purchased a few years ago that worked for years until the spring broke that I compared this one to. I'll have to find another one now since I think the ratchet makes using the tool real easy for anyone.

Will not recommend buying it
Not even worth the low price on it ! Cuts poorly and the jaws only open about a half inch. Even at that, you have to open the handle to an awkwardly wide gap that makes it difficult to close. Will not recommend buying it.

Necessary Part of the Tool Kit
Great Ratchet cutters for thicker green branches. But if you are just cutting smaller branches, get something else.

NOT BYPASS
These are not bypass clippers, they are anvil style! And they are very poor quality at that. Don't even try to use them on live wood. Might work well on dead wood, I don't know, I didn't try. I bought them for live wood pruning because they said they were bypass but they are not.

Terrible engineering flaw
Terrible engineering flaw; you would need to have extraordinarily long fingers to be able to fully open the shears after each cut and to properly position the branch for cutting. As it is, you need to use both hands to completely open the shears and to start the cut until your fingers can reach the handle and pull to complete the cut. I have average size hands.

Arrived in couple days. Thanks. Will know for sure how they work in a year or two, but that's how you really know how a pruner is made.

Anvil Type Pruner
These are anvil type pruners, not a bypass type a mentioned in the description. They work very well on larger branches. They seem well made and should last with normal usage.

It's even worse than the other regular ones that I've used
The ratchet doesn't seem to work very well, still need to use a lot of strength to squeeze it. It's even worse than the other regular ones that I've used. And you need to have a really big hand to have handle fully open to cut the bigger size branch. Would not recommend it.
