Sturdy but must be removed to eat and drink!
My rescue cat has nerve damage in his face..a prior injury as a kitten before I rescued him. He constantly scratches around his face, causing extreme injury. Aside from the vet placing him on meds, he often needs to have the area protected to heal & prevent further serious damage inflicted upon himself. This collar is very sturdy, does a great job. He’s not able to remove like the cheap, thin collars available at the vet. It’s easily adjustable for security & comfort. My only complaint is that he is NOT able to eat or drink unless it’s removed, despite claims to the contrary. It’s too rigid for him to bend his head to eat or drink unless it’s removed & then reapplied.

Nice, but Houdini can escape it easily
Very good for 12 pound cat that has stitches on his neck and ear area to keep from scratching. Deducted one star because he can get out of it. I don’t know how he does it but I find it laying in the strangest places.

Works for our cat
Putting a cone on a cat is never fun, but this one is easy to take on and off and is a little flexible, but not so flexible that the cat can wiggle around it to get to the spot the cone's on to protect. We got it to keep our cat from reaching its butt and it works for that purpose. It can still groom its tail and parts of its feet, so if you're hoping it'll keep it from that, maybe get a larger size (we got the size 2.) I just bought a second one so we can clean the first one.The cat eventually adapted to eating/drinking/moving/using the litterbox but from time to time we do take the cone off to give her a break. You can also fold sections of the cone back to help with eating and drinking. The velcro works very well, but when we remove the collar we move the cone so the velcro is on the other side of the head from the ears. When the cone gets wet (it happens mostly when the cat tries to drink water) it is easy to dry either by throwing it in the dryer or by using the hair dryer on it.

Fourth time's a charm
I went through three other e-collars: Bolbove Pet Classic Clear Cone, Cute Pineapple made by HYLUN, and one bought from PetSmart before finally finding this one! The pineapple cone did not prevent my cat from attacking his rear leg. I learned this the hard way when I found blood all over the pineapple, and despite it looking comfortable, my cat seemed to dislike it anyway.I had similar issues with the Bolbove, but it was an upgrade from the pineapple. But I still needed to find something that was comfortable and extended out far enough. At this point, I was desperate to find something that worked because my cat's recovery depended on him staying away from his leg. I finally came across this cone that fit all the criteria. I am impressed with how comfortable it is (not hard or stiff like most e-collars) while still holding its shape and providing protection. For reference, I ordered the size three, and my cat is about 12.5 pounds.

Too soft to be useful
This seems well made and I like that it seems much more comfortable to wear than the plastic cones. I got the XL for my 30 pound dog and it fits well and would fit a larger dog (but not smaller). The problem is that it's so flexible that he can reach most of his body with the cone on. If your pet's problem area is on his back or in a hard to reach place this might work OK, but if it's a paw or tail they'll be able to get at it.

Of three I tried, this worked best
We have a 12 pound indoor/outdoor cat who has a wound near her tail. The plastic cone we received from the vet's office was soooo clunky and sooooo big. She had difficulty eating and drinking in it. We tried a cat-sized "blow-up" collar from the pet store. She loved it -- but she could reach around it and lick the wound. We tried two velcro ones and of those -- this works best. She hasn't yet escaped from it (she escaped from the other). It is shorter than some of the others (maybe 4 or 4.5 inches of cone) so she can eat and drink better.

This is the best e-collar that I have ever purchased for a pet
My cat is very small (5 lbs) and is on a feeding tube due to kidney disease. I bought this e-collar because she scratches at her stoma and feeding tube a lot. The collar is rigid enough to protect the stoma and feeding tube but not too stiff as in plastic e-collars that can be uncomfortable and restrict movement. Because she is a very small cat, I had to cut down the length of the collar so that she can still drink water out of her bowl. That was easy to do because the collar is made from fabric and foam. I simply finished off the edges with a zig zag stich on my sewing machine.
