Great thermometer
Works quickly...has a smaller probe so a 'large hole' is not left in things like bread but it is long enough to reach deeply inside for a correct reading.

Responsive, fairly accurate and easy to read
I compared this to a variety of digital thermometers and found it to be faster and more responsive than others. When I opened the package and turned it on, it started by giving me the correct room temperature. I compared it to several indoor thermometers including the ones built into top of the line thermostats. It also gave me temperature readings outdoors that were consistent with good thermometers. I then tried ice water and got 32 degrees when swirling the water. Placing it in the freezer gave a temperature consistent with what was expected. Boiling water gave me a reading of 220 degrees Fahrenheit,while my more expensive Norpro thermometer read around 204 degrees. But it gave me an accurate reading with 180 degree water from a calibrated hot water tap.Although it didn't give exact readings at every point, neither did other thermometers. But it did give very accurate readings at "food" temperatures ranging from 120 degrees to 180 degrees Fahrenheit, as well as at room and outdoor temperatures. Thus, for practical purposes it was very accurate.The display is easy to read, and there is a button to hold the temperature in case you want to take a temperature reading and remove the thermometer to see the number. The number display is horizontal (i.e. in line with the rod) rather than vertical as in other thermometers I've used. That offers both advantages and disadvantages. It allows for a larger display without making the head of the thermometer overly fat. However when the thermometer is held vertically, the numbers will be sideways. And if you hold the food in your right hand and the thermometer in your left, or you are left handed and are trying to read the temperature of whatever you are cooking, the numbers will be upside down.The instructions are very poorly written, but should not be necessary as everything is self explanatory.
