Great first effort.
Compelling plot and the weaving in of forensic science and other facts keeps one riveted and hating to put it down. The use of English and sentence structure is well constructed. It's somewhat rare to have the author essentially writing in part about personal experiences with a sickening and pervasive problem within the Catholic church. No wonder so many people have left its ranks. It may be a challenge to come up with a second effort that's as good, but this author seems well suited to succeed at it, especially if he has Wonton soup on a routine basis.

Solid read
Mr Rumreich takes you on a journey set in a small MN town as authorities track down a man set on seeking out those who sexually abused him as a child. This deep true to life events story brings the abuse done by Catholic priests to young boy’s to real life, and the revenge one has sought to balance his life. It’s a solid read, one that is hard to walk away from, and one that should be told on a screen and not just in book form.

Masterful piece of realistic and compelling fiction.
A fabulous story, excellent in the details that truly make every scene come alive, along with just the right number of plot twists. The characters are interesting yet believable, and what a variety of personalities! And through it all, it made me realize how destructive behavior can influence a society for decades, and that minimizing the impact of acts like these creates a society full of distrust and alienation. Thank you, Thomas, for creating this masterful piece of realistic fiction.

Tough to put down
I started reading Unholy Communion and couldn't stop. The story line is very interesting and certainly ties in well with recent events in the catholic church. The Author, Tom Rumriech, did an excellent job of keeping the reader involved and wanting to read more. One of the better books I have read lately and I'm sure will end up on the "big screen"!Greg

Timely, with real life characters and great dialog.
Unholy Communion captured my attention from the opening chapter to the revealing conclusion. The author’s professional and criminal justice experiences, including forensic investigations and knowledge of the criminal psyche, provided depth to an already good story about THE Catholic sin. It is an exciting read. Many nights I wanted to put it down and go to sleep - but couldn’t. That’s my definition of a good book!

A well written page turner about a contemporary issue.
I really enjoyed the book. It was well written and kept me turning the pages. I am impressed with his soul searching story concerning a most shameful behavior in modern religion. His knowledge of forensics and investigative techniques brings the story real. I enjoyed the development of the characters and recommend the book.

Worth the read from beginning to end!
I highly recomment this mystery novel. It is easy to rread with a great story that flows well and holds your attention until the suspenseful ending. Enjoyed the mention of various Minnesota locales. Rumreich is a new mystery writer so beware Flynn & Sanford as well as my other favs: Cussler, Clancy & Baldacci!
