Perfect solution.
Works perfectly and is a very clean & minimal solution. I have had this for a few years now and I have had zero issues with it. Much easier to buy this than have to splice wires, there's nothing else that you'd need for a dashcam.

What a great way to attach a dash cam. The unit is very compact and makes for a very neat installation.

Makes dash cam wiring a breeze
I was able to install this in about 20 minutes. It works perfectly and make my dash cam install very clean. Make sure to install the usb plug facing away from the interior of the cabin so the blue light of the plug doesn't intrude through any gaps in the trim pieces. I would have preferred that the plug didn't light up at all so the the plug could be oriented in any direction.

Such A Great Item
If you are putting a dash cam in your car, this little device is amazing. It isn't cheap but it is worth the extra money. You don't have to fish long cords all over your car. Just unplug the powered mirror and connect this. It was pretty easy to do. If you aren't sure how to get to your mirror power cord, you can do an internet search and find lots of videos to help.It comes with several different short cords to accomodate whatever power cord need your dash cam has. The main thing you need to watch is that you get the correct style for your car. This is a 10-pin Type E (worked in a 2021 Mazda CX-9). Basically you should unhook your mirror power source and take some pics, then come back and make sure what you have looks the same as the white parts of this. The power is only "on" when the car is running which I like because I don't want to worry about battery drainage. However do know that if you use this the camera will be off unless the car is running.

Works good!
The media could not be loaded. I installed this on a 2023 Mazda CX-5. The Dongar, unfortunately, doesn't plug into the connection at the back of the mirror (wouldn't that be easy!?) So you need to open the cover attached to the windshield. That's a little tricky because you won't want break the tabs holding the 2 halves together. If you gently push the driver's side half up towards the windshield and simultaneously slide the passenger side half towards the passenger door, that might do it. I think I did it accidentally but it came apart. Inside is the connector the Dongar connects/splices into. Very easy. But I needed to run my dashcam power USB into the box also and make that connection to the Dongar inside also - (just followed the wire going into the mirror). That was easy enough also. Then all that's needed is to position everything so that you can close up the cover. Sorry I didn't make the video as I was installing. Duh. Just don't make the mistake thinking the Dongar will connect to the connection at the back of the mirror. It has to go inside the windshield box!

Didn't fit
Did not fit either side for my Mazda CX-5

Expensive But Worth It
Installed this on a 2022 CX5 Preferred. This product is overpriced for all it is but it makes dash cam installation a breeze compared to running wires all over the place and near the air bags. I recommend only removing the left side of the mirror cover. This allows you access to the connection and makes it easier to tuck in the wires. They include 3 different short cord connectors and a plastic pry tool to remove the cover - just start at the small notch at the bottom and it pops right off. It makes dash cam installation a breeze. While is specifies for frame less mirrors, my mirror is not and has the homelink buttons on it and this works perfectly fine. If you are unsure if this fits your vehicle, go to their website to confirm.

Cabling Bliss!
I previously had my radar detector installed with a MirrorTap which, while ok, wasn't the most elegant or secure solution. When I got a new 2024 Mazda CX-5 Turbo Signature with the frameless mirror, I was looking for something that didn't involve wedging fragile connectors into a receptacle that was designed for a single wire.I came across the Dongar adapter via a write-up that someone had posted on a forum detailing their dashcam installation, and it looked like the ideal setup. It proved to be exactly that! My detector (Uniden R7) uses an RJ11 connector, but it was easy enough to source a USB to RJ11 cable to work with the Dongar. Installation took all of 15 minutes and is far, far neater and more secure than the MirrorTap. I no longer have concerns about connectors wiggling free which is worth the price all by itself.
