On first impression, I love this mat. Out of the package, and unrolled, it lay flat, with just a very minor crease. There was a noticeable new plastic type odor. I am pretty sensitive to those types of chemical odors, but it wasn't overpowering, and didn't cause me or seem to cause the cats any problems, and within a day or so, it dissipated to where I would have to put my face close to the mat to even detect it.The generous size is what I was looking for, and the cats love the texture. It is very soft. I've seen them going to the litter box area just to stretch and knead their paws into the mat. So far it is staying flat, and in place, and is trapping the litter nicely. It also is easily vacuumed over with my Shark upright vacuum, and doesn't get sucked up into the vacuum, something I really wanted, because taking the mat outside regularly to shake it or having to use the vacuum hose, would be a lot less convenient for regular dry cleaning. As with any mat, it isn't going to trap everything, particularly if you have a cat that likes to rocket out of the box after making their deposit, but it substantially cuts down on tracking. I use  Precious Cat Ultra Premium Clumping Cat Litter, 40 pound bag . I have one litter box across from the shower in one of my bathrooms, and I was pleased to be able to step out of the shower and not experience putting my damp feet on scattered clumping litter on the tile floor.So, 5 stars based on first impression, and a few days of use. Time will tell about the durability of the mat, and if it lives up to the machine washable claim.For reference, I included a picture with the mat next to a  SmartCat Corner Litter Box, Gray  and  Litter Genie Plus Cat Litter Disposal System with Odor Free Pail System, Silver **Update 7/16/2016**The mat still looks close to new 7 months later, and remains my favorite litter mat to date. I did run it through a machine wash cycle recently (on the delicate setting) to give it a thorough cleaning and was pleased to note that it came through the wash intact.

Purchased mat in mid August. Seemed fine at first, coverage was good. My cat overshot the litter box in late September leaving the mat very wet. The liquid pooled in all the "nooks and crannies' of the rug. Since it was raining and the product description said it was machine washable, I opted to do that. I added a couple towels to the load to minimize friction and washed it on the delicate setting. When I took it out of the washer, I discovered a 3 inch tear on the back of the mat. I thought that I would just put a piece of duct tape on it once it dried. Drying is the other problem. Because of the "nooks and crannies", the water from the laundering process also pooled in the mat. Seven days later, it is still wet. When I checked it this morning I also discovered multiple smaller tears in the backing. There are also areas of thinning in the backing.I contacted the seller when it first happened and was told I could return it if I chose. When I thought there was just the one tear, I hadn't planned to return it. Because the backing, in general, now seems to be too thin with more cracks showing up as it dries, I decided return it. Now the problem is that it is too late to return the item to Amazon - over a month. It is a lot easier, a lot less work, and a lot less expensive, to just put some plastic and an old towel or newspapers under the litter box.Very disappointed and cannot recommend. When a product description sounds too good to be true, maybe it is. Lesson learned.

These are a nice size but I have one of those large round litter boxes with the little step type entry for the cat and they still aren't big enough for that to sit on it and for my cat to step out directly onto the mat only. Which is ok, it's not the mats fault that my cat is fat and needs a giant box. But, although it does grab onto a bulk of the litter there is still a large amount that ends up on the floor. It's also kind of difficult to clean.

It seemed like it would work great. One of my newly adopted cats leaves lots of litter scattered about as he exits the box. The mat did cut down on the amount that makes it's way into the other rooms, but after only two weeks of use I saw a two inch tear on the bottom of the mat. Not sure how he managed to do this, but it makes me wonder how much longer this may will last.

I was already using a Preuven litter mat, which worked great, but I hated the neutral color. My bathroom (where the litter box is) has colors of navy and grey, so this litter may is just the perfect color. I also liked how large it is because I was able to cut it to size. The only thing I don't like is with this color you do see the litter much more easily, BUT it just makes me use the dust buster more often (once or twice a day). And cleaning is a breeze. When I wash the litter box and scooper I also wash the mat with some Fantastic with Bleach and a thorough rinsing. The mat dries in 4-6 hours.

It is fine, except my cat has peed on it and I can't see the pee in the crevasses, when I pick it up to clean it, pee drips everywhere. I wish it had a ridge around the perimeter, that would solve the problem but my cat is weird. If you have a cat that pees on things, this is something to consider.

The mat is made of sturdy material and is designed to keep the litter that has been kicked out firmly on the mat, allowing me to easily sweep the excess clean litter back into the litter box. This also helps to maintain a clean surrounding area. When soiled, easily washable. It saves me a lot of work. I highly recommend this product as the other mats I have used didn't hold the kicked out litter and gave me as much work as not having a mat beneath the box. This one, however has solved the problem for me. Making the clean up task a breeze.

I highly recommend this to anyone who needs to control cat littler being tracked around their house. With 2 cats and a new baby, I was tired of finding cat litter all over the house. Fortunately a friend recommended this litter mat to me, and I could not be more pleased with it. Now I don't have to go around the house sweeping up stray litter, which is a huge benefit to me and the baby. The cats are fine with it and my house is a lot cleaner now.
