After preliminary testing, I can honestly say that the laser sight on this IR thermometer is well with the added cost because it gives a better visual indication of the area being measured.Original review:Item never turned on, despite using the included battery and a fresh Duracell.

I don’t know if this is accurate to the decimal, but it was accurate enough in my experience. I tested it on my Smart AC / Furnace Thermometer and ice water and it showed consistently accurate readings – see pics. Ice water recorded a temp of 32F. I got this for various uses around the house. Primarily for grilling and testing computer components as I often tinker building PCs and upgrading parts. There are other non-professional uses for this around the house which I’m sure I’ll find this handy when I need it.It feels very well built. I’ve seen cheaper looking & feeling models out there. It’s made of durable plastic that is smooth all around with no sharp edges. It was packaged in a nice black cardboard box with 3D sketches of the thermometer. Inside was also a vinyl holster with a belt loop. I don’t see myself using this for anything other than storage. A manual and a 9V battery were also included.Using this Infrared Thermometer is easy. The manual is fairly thorough and helped with a few things like changing C to F. There are a ton of features that can be set or turned on / off. The backlit display is in full color and is very easy to read. I like that it shows the numbers and icons on a dark background instead of other ones that have dark numbers on a bright backlight. The temp readout are displayed quick within about 1.5 seconds of pressing the trigger. When the trigger is pressed the laser is shot along with an icon on the screen and a LED indicator for the reading: RED = reading and GREEN = done.Overall this meets my needs and I like the look and feel of it. No complaints at all and as long as it continues to work and provide accurate readouts I’ll be a happy camper.

This thermometer works great for what I need it for. Which is cooking and to measure engine temp on my off road equipment.

This was not what I expected …but after working with it for a month it has proved to be a very useful tool in the kitchen. It is not magic, however it will help establish the temperature of a frying pan.I found out that there is quite a difference between the actual temperature of a good quality Cephalon teflon coated frying pan and an AllClad frying pan under the same conditions. When the cooktop dial is set to 6 the teflon coated pan comes up to the perfect temperature for scrambling eggs in olive oil. The same setting for the AllClad pans is way too hot and smokes the olive oil. Using this thermometer the recommended pan temperature could be established.I now use this to establish the correct pan temperature when cooking with the AllClad cookware. I'm not sure it will give an accurate reading on my Harley exhaust pipes or engine components, however with some care it should be able to establish the difference in temperature between the front and rear cylinder heads.

I bought this based off of the great reviews but it seems most people here aren't really concerned with accuracy. They just want to know if something is cold, hot, or really hot. I need these guns for work. Our warehouse accepts frozen food and if the trucks come in too warm (anything over 10 degrees) then we cannot accept the product. This gun is at best.... 10 degrees off. I compared it to a calibrated thermometer that we use for those extremely accurate readings. Thermometer read -1 in our freezer and this gun read -17. Our old model temp gun did better than this one while reading -3.This is probably a fun toy for most people that just want to know if something is too hot to touch but don't rely on it for accurate readings.Update: This company seems to have great customer service. They responded to email within a matter of hours and were extremely helpful with doing everything they can to resolve the issue. They're sending me a replacement so I'll update again once I receive it.

The thermometer works well, seems accurate, easy to use. The response time is pretty quick - you can do a very slow scan of an area and it does pretty well at keeping up. The color screen is nice - however it is very directional. You have to look straight at it or you can not see anything.I like the unit with a couple exceptions: I ordered it because it says it goes to 800C - The unit I received is labeled as going only to 600C on the device and in the manual! Its the same model number and looks exactly like the listing - except 600C in place of 800C in the picture. You are also suppose to be able to set the HAL and LAL - can't be done on the unit sent to me. I tried every possible button combination (long press, short press, multiple buttons, etc.. The procedure listed in the manual does not work at all - so the manual does not match the device! There are also 32 memories of recent readings. The manual and the listing say nothing about this, but they are there. I assumed they just sent me the wrong unit, but I have my doubts - I would have ordered a replacement, but I think I would get the same thing again. I looked on the manufactures website and this unit, and the listing, do not look the same as what they list for going to 800C.The thermometer works very well. However, missing the above features (higher temp, and adjustable limits), its about 30% over priced. The discovered memories are nice.

Not the cheapest one, but very nice. Easy to use. Pop in the battery. Pull the trigger and you are reading temperture. I had to use the manual to set for def F. The laser "target" is bright, well defined and gives you a fair idea of the area your are reading.Not just a red dot. I use mine to check hub and tire temperture on my Cattle, Boat, Utility, etc Trailers every time I take one out on the road. Checked the oven, frig, freezer temps. Also use it to check my heat pump air in/ air out. (18 deg diff on AC is an indication everything is ok. Littl more complicated on heat cycle.)

Das Infrarot Thermometer Janisa ist so ein Produkt was ich auf der Arbeit manchmal gebrauchen kann.Ich bin Installateur und habe gelegentlich das Problem eine Warmwasserleitung oder Heizungsleitung in der Wand zu lokalisieren.Natürlich gibt es dafür Metallsuchgeräte, nur wenn die Leitung aus Kunststoff oder hinter Streckmetall verborgen ist nützen die nicht viel.Dieses Thermometer ist aber auch gut geeignet um Kältebrücken am Gebäude aufzuspüren.Die Bedienung ist kinderleicht, einfach den Pistolengriff drücken wobei sich das Gerät einschaltet, mit dem 12 Punkt Laser auf die zu messende Stelle halten und das Ergebnis im Farbdisplay ablesen. Den Laser und das beleuchtete Display kann ich auch abschalten und so den Batteriestrom vom 9 Volt Block sparen. Dieses Thermometer misst an mehreren Stellen und rechnet dann einen Mittelwert.Was fehlt ist eine deutsche Anleitung, wer aber in der Schule Englisch hatte wird mit der mitgelieferten Anleitung klar kommen.Im mitgelieferten Holster ist das Gerät bis zur nächsten Benutzung sicher untergebracht.Eine Batterie ist mitgeliefert, die gemessenen Werte sind plausibel und so kann ich hier fünf Sterne geben.

Arrived on time. Very useful device. Lets me be sure not to scorch materials I iron to remove creases and my wife loves it to chck her stove is up to temperature.
