and the "stay-clean" pour spout looked like it would probably do the trick
Prior to discovering this kit, I'd only ever made simple syrup the way you're "supposed" to make it - boil some water, add an equal(ish) amount of sugar, stir until the liquid turns clear.I stored the simple syrup in a kitchen squeeze bottle in the fridge, but the predictable thing would happen -- it would get crusty and nasty around the end of the bottle. As a previous customer of Studio Neat (I bought the original Glif and the Cosmonaut), I knew that if they said they had an answer to this problem, they weren't just blowing smoke, and the "stay-clean" pour spout looked like it would probably do the trick. What I didn't realize is that they were also introducing me to an even simpler way to make simple syrup -- no heat and no boiling pot required! Just mix the two ingredients (with the amounts helpfully marked as lines on the side of the bottle) and shake until the sugar dissolves. All along I thought that the heat was required to get the water to absorb the right amount of sugar, but apparently it just speeds the process along. But what good is speeding the process along if you then have to spend time keeping an eye on a hot stove, waiting for it to cool, and then washing the pot afterwards? The kit arrives in an attractive, no-nonsense foam padded box and includes the bottle, the pour spout, bottle cap, funnel, and a dry-erase marker for any notes you want to make on the bottle (like when you made the syrup!).True to their promises, the spout never gets crusty and the bottle is a much classier presentation of simple syrup than a generic squeeze bottle. (If such things matter to you, and I'm assuming they do if you're reading a review like this one.)Because it doesn't require a ceremony with the stove, I feel like it's much less of a pain to make simple syrup than it used to be, and I'm definitely happier with the end results.

The only way to make, and store, simple syrup
I use simple syrup in my morning coffee, my weekend mixed drinks, and occasionally when I'm cooking. I hate having to boil water and add sugar, the mess on my stove top is just not worth it. So I bought this kit recently and I couldn't be happier with it. Just add sugar to the line on the bottle, then add water to the next line, and shake. Write the date on the front with the included marker, and store in your fridge for up to a few months before starting over. The sugar will not completely dissolve for a few days, but that's not really a big deal.Besides the easy-to-use fill lines on bottle, the key to this thing is the bottle stopper with removable cap. Take the black plastic cap off, and the easy pour spout will make sure your simple syrup doesn't make a mess as you add it to your drink. I was really impressed with how well this worked.

Lasted two weeks without heating
Loved the idea of this, but heating might be necessary to prolong the life of a 1:1 mixture. I got two weeks out of a 1:1 mixture or “raw” sugar before it developed white spots on the liquid surface. Heating the liquid might have the benefit of sterilization which may prolong the liquids shelf life.

Price is for the design, not the physical implements. Simplifies making simple syrup to the point where I actually do it
It's not cheap, but the "Add sugar, add water, shake, let sit, all in one bottle, and rinse the funnel for cleaning" method of making simple sugar vs grabbing a pot, measure the sugar, measure the water, put in pot, boil, let cool, pour into container(s) for storage, plus clean the pot, measuring cup, stirrer is the difference between having simple syrup on hand and not having simple syrup on hand. For me, that's worth it. In fact, I've got one, I gave one as a gift, and I'm likely to get a second to keep at work. It's also a strong contender as a gift.To me, the price of the product is a good reflection of the idea and the thoughtfulness of the design of the system rather than the cost of the physical items.

Arrived nicely packaged and with clear instructions which were basically just add sugar and water. The funnel and the marker pen is a nice touch to round out the package. A simple solution to making syrup.

as easy as it gets
I used to dread anytime i needed a drink requiring mysterious and elusive "simple syrup".Pull out a pot, boil water, add sugar, put on pants to go to store to buy sugar! it was a nightmare!of course, chemistry wins out with this simple kit. a 1:1 ratio doesn't need boiling water. just add ingredients, and shake!the slow pour spout is excellent for precise pours. Mint Juleps! here i come!

Complete Waste of Money
You have got to be kidding me. $25 for a "kit" for making simple syrup? At that price I could buy my sugar, a bunch of squeeze bottles (6 to be exact right here from Amazon), and a cheap-o pot to boil my water in, and probably the mixing spoon too. I hate cooking and I'll say this isn't hard folks and takes approximately five minutes longer than it takes to just boil water. Save your money
