The scales make a mess but good value for the money.
These have scales and make a mess. I had been purchasing the Beams Talls for my little (7 pound) Shih Tzu/Toy Maltese mix (and cutting them in half). He loves to chew and the Beams Talls were working great, but they are expensive. So I thought I would try these.Positive: I will say that it is a very large bag of skin treats, I was impressed at the cost-vs-quantity.Negative: These treats have fish scales and make a huge mess.Because it is summer, I just give them to my dog when he is outside. I am not sure what will happen this winter because I will probably still have them, there are so many in the bag. I will not buy them again.**UPDATE** After a couple of months with these treats, my appreciation of the long chewing time is slowly overriding the negative of the mess that they make. So far, these treats last longer than any other treat I have purchased (in terms of him finishing a treat in one sitting, not long-term things like bones or yak cheese). I am updating this review from 3 to 4 stars. These treats really are a good value for the price. BUT I probably won't buy them over the winter. :)

Caused major gastrointestinal upset and vomiting
Our new husky puppy is on an awesome diet and he has never had any digestive mishaps, until this treat. He went crazy about it and chewed it up until finished when I gave it to him. I watched as he chewed to make sure he wouldn’t have a small piece lodge in his throat. I always watch as he eats special treats, just as a precaution.30 min later started his whining. I thought it was boredom or bathroom visit needs, but a bit later he started to vomit. I assumed it was a fluke so we have him these treats again over the course of three days, same thing happened. We only gave one stick per day.We stopped yesterday and he is now having gastrointestinal upset, discomfort due to gas and he won’t eat.I’m sending them back. Buyer beware, these treats might cause issues on some dogs.

Healthy chew
I was looking for something healthy for my dogs to chew after eating, which wouldn't get stuck in their teeth and would take them a little time to finish. After buying a singular long salmon skin in the pet store, and seeing them very happily enjoying it, I decided I wanted more but they stopped carrying it. So...Amazon, here I come. I ordered 2 different varieties. Both were 100% skins. Both my dogs loved. But the other was a little more crispy, didn't last as long, and were smaller. These TickledPet Icelandic Cod skins were much longer, and not as brittle, so it allowed the dogs to chew on them a while before they were gone. The dogs love them and I feel they are healthier for them than rawhide made products, or big cookies, or added calories of solid meat, or doggie candy. Plus, they are getting good vitamins as well as using parts of the fish normally thrown away. Good for all. Hopefully the price will come down on fish skins or I'll start buying my own dehydrator.

Depends on your dog
My cocker spaniel is pretty picky as is my little mutt. My cocker spaniel has a thing about hiding his treats before he eats them & that's exactly what he did with this. I'm not too sure if either of my dogs are too interested. However, I did share this bag (there's many pieces) with my colleagues. Their dogs loved this treat! They are larger breed dogs. So, if your dog is a picky eater I might pass up on this. My dogs generally love fish as well but I'm not sure why they didn't love this treat.

The jury is out...
This is the second bag we've bought of these. The first bag my dog was WILD about, would snatch them out of my hand and I was left to count how many fingers I had left. The second bag... she sniffs it and walks away. She did take one the other day but took a couple steps and dropped it on the floor and walked away. So... not sure what to say... loved the first bag, wants nothing to do with the second. For me, I probably won't buy again since there is another brand we've never had a problem with. I had such high hopes because these are more like a chewy treat that takes them longer to eat than the flat skins but dog treats are expensive so we'll stick with the others.

Perfect healthy low cal treats
My Yorkie loves these. I cut them in half. They do give a fishy smell and do get gummy but I've trained my dog to eat only on 1mat so I just wash it. I would order again. Also doesn't flake.

My Dogs love these!
I may be a crazy old dog woman; I have three: a dachshund, beagle, and border collie. They all love the cod skins so much that since they arrived, my dogs periodically during the day sit and beg at the pantry door! They do not normally do this. I think the cod skins are healthier for them than artificially colored and flavored treats. They have had no digestive issues with these treats. I like the low fat content and the fact that it is “human grade” quality.

We've discovered something Wonderful!
FANTASTIC!! I am always looking for the very best for my "Boys", and I was anxious to see how they were going to react to a fish treat. I didn't need to worry... THEY LOVED THEM!! As a matter of fact, halfway through the first bag, I ordered a second one, and I'm sure there will be many more!!The key features for me though are 1.) there is no strong odor and 2.) they last a long time - keeping my dogs busy so that I can enjoy my tea in peace!!
