Most of my colleagues use their built-in laptop cameras and this is basically the same quality. I have a few large monitors and my laptop is in a docking station at the end of my desk which is why I needed an external webcam. For less than $20 I figured I couldn't go wrong. I'm technical and knew going in what I was buying and what quality to expect. I'm sure most people can tell by the price, but if you want very high quality video or if you upload videos for youtube, this is definitely not the camera to buy. The picture is acceptable, it adjusts for different lighting conditions pretty well and at only 2-1/2" wide is not obtrusive. It has a built-in LED that I immediately turned off using a switch on the back. It was bright and massively distracting - I don't know who would ever want it on. It's plug and play and no setup tool or utility is needed. Overall, it's an adequate camera for very basic use. I'd buy it again only for limited uses such as mine and not wanting to spend $60+ on a better one that I don't need. When I purchased it, the price was $19.99 and in my opinion it's not worth any more. I noticed the price is now $29.00 - I'd shop for a better camera for a few bucks more. UPDATE: While it met the needs I mentioned above, I ended up giving it away and replacing it with a slightly better model only for one reason...It's focal length was too close and instead of a wide view it gave an up- close, in-your-face head-shot view which I felt uncomfortable about. I have a wall in front of my desk and couldn't move it further away.NOTE: I purchased this item on Amazon for full price and have no affiliation to the seller.
