37 Hours later.. ice still in the bottle and water still at 44 degrees.......
These are initial impressions. Haven't used outside of home but so far it far beats expectations and company advertising. No leaks. Number one reason to buy this type of bottle is its ability to keep your water cold. This bottle far exceeds what is advertised and what I expected. Filled it up about half way with ice and the rest with filtered water. I ended up pouring it out 37 hours later with a little ice still in it and the temperature at 44 degrees. I checked the temp probably 6 times during that 37 hours just waiting to see it start to rise. Never did. Only bottle I have to compare to is a Hydro Flask. The Hydro will generally last a little less than 24 before all the ice is gone and the temp has risen a few degrees. All I can say about the WaterVault is WOW. I have the liter size bottle, so it is definitely on the large size but makes it easy to keep enough water with me. I will probably be getting a smaller one to keep at home and keep the larger one for travel or hiking. Picture is beside a regular 16.9 oz bottle so you can get a good idea of the size of this.

Did not last the test of time
It's been almost a year since I bought the WaterVault Stainless Steel Water Bottle. I loved the bottle when I received it. My daughter has a Swell and at that time, I thought the WaterVault was comparable to the Swell but for a much cheaper price - same look and feel, good quality, keeps liquids hot or cold for a considerable length of time. I loved it so much that I took good care of the bottle and followed the instructions on how to take care of it. I also recommended it to friends and family - I thought it was a exceptional product. Unfortunately after 8 months, the bottle does not close tight anymore. No matter how many times you turn the top, I cannot close it - this making the bottle useless. I would have given the bottle a five star but it did not last the test of time :(

The quality you expect from WaterVault with a couple small disappointments.
I've had this insulated WaterVault for a week or two now. I previously bought two of the general water bottles from this company and was very impressed. With this product I was still impressed but taken aback by a couple of irritating things. First the o-ring in the cap managed to be in the bottom of my tea cup today. I thought somebody may have put a condom in my drink for laughs but no, it was just the o-ring that managed to come loose. I have a feeling I'll get to look forward to that happening a lot as the bottle ages. I may get to replace it in time. The cap screws on a bit "mushy" like you're not really sure when to stop screwing it. That is a bit disconcerting. I would have loved a satisfying "stop" like my old Thermos™ used to have.I was honestly a bit disappointed at the heat retention properties of this bottle but really...that's just thermoses in general. I DO believe it would keep liquid hot for eight hours but there's a caveat. That is only true when you fill it all the way and don't open it between that time. In real world use, that is not going to be the case, especially with a liter bottle. I thought I may be able to pour out one cup of tea and then have the last half of the bottle later. Once you open that bottle up, the heat is gone for good. Whatever is left, will be ice cold in a half hour. My Thermos™ at least, had a bigger screw cap where you could unscrew it a "bit" and then drip out some drink, while keeping as much heat inside as possible. This bottle cap must come off all the way in order to release the drink. It's too narrow to release a small way, and pour, like a Thermos™.Having said that, I wish I would have bought two half-liters instead of a liter. The liter is kind of useless to me as I have to drink a liter of tea all in one quick sitting in order to enjoy it hot. You can gain a lot of heat by pre-heating the bottle. WaterVault just sent me an email suggesting that I preheat the bottle for 1-2 hours before filling! The thought of it! That is some kind of ceremony. But yes, this is often what we have to do to insulated water bottles to get maximum return. I've experimented with filling it with hot water first for a good 15 minutes and Yes, the final-drink did have much higher heat retention later on. -seems like a waste of energy and time but that is what you must do, pre-heat.On another note, I wish they offered non-painted silver in this model as the paint is already taking a beating due to the huge size of this thing. NO, it wont find in your car cup holders. It will roll and bang around on the floor boards as it's top heavy. The paint on these things never sticks so it's best to just get plain metal for best durability. The other thing that the pictures fool you with is how big it is. It towers over the regular WaterVault liter bottles and is much heavier. That is kind of like a "Duh, of course" realization, but yeah, it caught me off guard. It's overall a good product and I would recommend it. I think I may get more used to it with time. An insulated bottle is not a crock pot or a microwave. You have to finesse the heat into it and be lightening quick getting the liquid out if you plan to keep some inside for later. I think I may try to boil a half liter of water first; fill for 15 minutes and then fill with tea.....but I'm so impatient for that most of the time.

2 and 1/2 years later and still a great bottle.
I purchased the 26oz bottle in March of 2015. I travel for a living and it rides in the side pocket of my computer bag. I have dropped in numerous times and it has some dents from that. This does not affect the use of the bottle in any way. The paint also has numerous scratches on it. I have not even attempted to keep it from getting damaged so this is to be expected. I wanted a workhorse of a water bottle and that's what I got. This thing still keeps drinks cold for 24 hours! I have filled it with ice and water and still had ice 24 hours later. This is not typical but has happened on more than one occasion. I tested it with hot water just to see how it would do. I filled it with 185-degree water and left it on the counter at room temperature I tested it 12 hours later. The water was still 135-degrees. Plenty hot for me. I didn't buy it to carry coffee and only put water in it so I can't comment on what other beverages might do to the inside of the bottle but I think they should be fine.Recently the bottle has started to weep a bit. It hasn't prevented me from using it nearly daily. I contacted the vendor to see if I could order another one and hopefully, they will help with getting a new one. If not, I'm sure I can find one somewhere that will work. I see no reason that this bottle won't work for me for many more years to come.UPDATE: The vendor responded very quickly and is sending me a new O-ring! I wish I could give them 6 stars for such quick service.
