It seems thinner than older wooly pullys.
This is my fifth wooly pully. I grew up wearing an OD green crew neck that had been issued to my dad twenty years prior and a black V neck that had been issued to my grandfather at some point. I later wore two that were issued to me in the service.I continue to wear the decades old black one under my motorcycle jacket in the cold, and I initially planned to buy a crew neck black wooly pulley and was stoked when I found out they made a roll neck. I ordered the heather because it's the least military in appearance (and I have them in black and green already). It seems like this sweater is thinner than the old ones. I'm pretty bummed, but, man, do I wish I could have had an OD green roll neck while I was overseas. This would have been perfect under my kit for long convoys.I've only worn it a few times and I will update if I decide that it works as well. I hope it does. These are my favorite sweaters.Edit: One of my older sweaters is from "Brigade Quartermasters" and labeled "The Original Wooly Pully" and is made in England. I don't know who made it- so the direct comparison may be unfair. The BQ sweater has a tighter weave, though, than the TW Kempton I just purchased. I sat and looked at the two last night and there is an obvious difference.

Perfect fit, horrible quality wool
Everything about this sweater is fantastic, except for the quality of the wool, which is so itchy that I could feel it even through an undershirt. The fit is perfect, I am 5'11" 170 and prefer a nice slim fit and this fit perfectly, the arms are longer to allow for cuffing and the neck is nice and long to roll. Unfortunately, because the wool is SO scratchy, the neck being that long is also a detriment as you cannot turn your neck at all without getting itchy wool dragged across it.I would still highly recommend this sweater because of the fit and style, but be prepared to wear a long sleeve undershirt with a tall neck under it to prevent very uncomfortable itching.

Tight fit, super warm
So... I like this sweater, although I had a "getting used to it" period. The collar is think and long; I have a long neck, and it's plenty long enough for me. The collar is double-thickness, and during this cold winter, it's been like a built-in scarf. These are a bit tight. I ordered according to the size chart, and it has a tight, military fit. If you want a regular fit, you could order a size up.Also, I think another reviewer stated that they stretch a bit. I'm not sure if the fit has gotten a bit better (looser) or if I've gotten used to the military fit, but either way, I have grown to like this sweater a lot.It also has a pleasant leather-ish smell, which is an added bonus.

Perfect
If you yearn for that old military issue commando type sweater, at a fair price for the quality wool , this is it.I bought the LARGE (44-46) and it firts exactly like it should. True to size, hansome color, good stitching.I remember the itciness (you get used to it) of my original issued sweater; it doesn't dissapoint.I am 6'1, 205 pounds. I wear 46 long sportscoat. The LARGE fits perfect.Do not buy a cotton one from China; this is what you want.Edit: bought a second one, in black this time.

Very wooly
This thing is the real deal. It's real wool and its thick! It fits tight to your skin and is easy to layer. Very well made and super warm without making you sweaty. Some people may find this to be the very itchy kind of wool but I'm already wooly myself so it doesn't bother me at all.

The Sweater You Have Been Missing
This is a great sweater. I have worn other wool sweaters for years. They all were missing the collar. This sweater has it! It is easy to put on, the collar keeps you warm, and did I say it was a WOOL SWEATER WITH A COLLAR. I will be buying more soon.

yummy and snug
a bit snug but preferable to too big. super cozy. i got 2 and they are my every day winter wear, always with long sleeve undershirt so they don't absorb smell and need to be washed. shake them out and air them in the sun, when it is out. big juicy turtle neck, just as i hoped. love.
