## Description

Product description The NH-L9i chromax.black is an all-black version of Noctua’s award-winning NH-L9i low-profile quiet CPU cooler for HTPCs and Small Form Factor (SFF) builds. Thanks to the same proven heatsink design and NF-A9x14 PWM fan, it stays true to the NH-L9i’s successful formula of fusing a height of only 37mm with strong performance and excellent quietness of operation, as well as 100% RAM and PCIe compatibility. At the same time, the chromax.black version with its black fan and black coated heatsink combines these assets with a sleek stealth look. Topped off with the renowned SecuFirm2 low-profile mounting system for Intel LGA115x/1200 and Noctua’s enthusiast-grade NT-H1 thermal compound, the NH-L9i chromax.black is a premium choice for customers who seek an ultra-compact heatsink that looks just as great as it cools. 37mm low profile Due to the slim 23mm heatsink and the NF-A9x14 low-profile fan that measures only 14mm in thickness, the NH-L9 stands a mere 37mm tall, which makes it ideal for use in compact HTPCs or Small Form Factor cases that offer minimum clearance for CPU coolers. 100% RAM compatibility The NH-L9i has a 95x95mm footprint that complies exactly with the Intel LGA115x/1200 socket keep-out zone. This means that it won't cause issues with chipset coolers and doesn't overhang the RAM slots, so it's fully compatible with tall memory modules. 100% compatibility with PCIe cards on mini-ITX Most Intel LGA115x/1200 based mini-ITX motherboards have the PCIe slot sitting right next to the 95x95mm socket zone. While larger coolers that exceed this zone are likely to block the PCIe slot, the 95x95xmm sized NH-L9i provides full compatibility with PCIe cards. Optional SecuFirm2 mounting kit for AMD AM4 While the NH-L9i’s construction is tailored to the keep-out zone of Intel’s LGA115x/1200 platform, it can be installed on many AMD AM4 boards using the optional NM-AM4-L9aL9i mounting kit, which can be ordered on Noctua’s website free of charge. While it provides first-rate performance in its class, it is not suitable for overclocking and or CPUs that create high heat loads. Review: Great product 5/5 would def buy again - little trick to install on setups in a case already but fits great for an LGA1151 socket. excellent for the price, cooling is a little under what expected but better than stock for sure. noise is extremely minimal. worked right out of the box with no hassle after installed. lifespan looks promising. will update if any failures occur.
Review: Packs a punch - I put this thing into a computer it very well shouldn't have. I just needed a heatsink and ordered this one, completely forgetting that TDP was a thing. This heatsink kept a full-bore, RAM testing, 100% usage i7-11700k to 78C at ambient room temperature. A heatsink that has a TDP of 95 watts kept a CPU that can hit up to 250 watts TDP from thermal throttling. That is a borderline miracle. Impressive.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Is this cooler compatible with LGA 1200 sockets?**
A: According to their site, it works with the LGA 1200 slot.

**Q: Will do this a better job over Wraith Stealth?**
A: Honestly, no it doesn't. I had a Stealth installed on my Ryzen 5 2600, didn't like it and bought this. This was only marginally better, with idle temps in the low 40's C and load temps near 82 C. I returned it and dropped in a Cooler Master AIO and haven't looked back.

**Q: Do these come as an LTT edition or is it just all black?**
A: this is just all black.

**Q: Is the cable this comes with long enough to be plugged in?? Looks kinda short.**
A: Yes, it is long enough. Just finished three builds with it.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Best option for low space
*by J***. on July 8, 2023*

Best option if you’re needing absolutely zero profile cooler. For basic office style use it’s absolutely adequate. For gaming it’s adequate as well, as long as you have reasonable expectations. I use this on a 10700k for gaming and have absolutely no issues. My average gaming load is about 55-60W at 20% CPU usage, my average gaming temp is 65C. So it easily cools with headroom available. I would say probably 80W gaming load would be about max you would want to use this cooler with. It’s acceptably quiet, like basically you don’t notice the fan noise unless you put your ear up to the case, and that’s with the fan over 2000rpm. Really good overall cool. And looks awesome in black lol. Quality is absolutely bulletproof.
