With Lip Service, Richard Elliot has come full circle as one of the reigning merchants of Soul Jazz and cementing his role as one of the great contemporary sax players in the world. While working on Summer Horns in 2013, he had the opportunity to revisit his roots as one of the founding members of Tower of Power by performing "So Very Hard To Go" and working alongside arranger Greg Adams again. This led to Greg Adams arrangement for the GRAMMY-nominated "Shining Star" on Lip Service.

Hearty Sax for the the sax lover.
Richard creates hearty sax melodies that will have you thumping and bobbing. It's always a treat to discover another great sax player who gets to display their talent through enjoyable compositions. I highly recommend this artist.

A great bit of soulful smooth jazz.
Been a fan of his for...well a very long time. While the sound of smooth jazz has changed over the years, Elliot has managed to keep that sound that one can identify as Richard Elliot almost from the first note and yet at the same time keep it fresh and highly enjoyable to listen too. He has done it again on Lip Service....in fact I think it may be one of his best to date. New to smooth jazz? This would be a great place to start. Jazz with soul...a great sound!

About 12 years ago I was shopping at Best Buy in the music section and I came across a Sax Artist I had never heard of before Richard Elliot. I said to myself lets see if this guy has anything I have not heard before, and to my amazement I could not stop listening. To me one of the most gifted Sax men I have ever heard in my life. I was so inspired That I bought a Tenor Sax and started to learn how to play. If you buy any of his music you will not be able to stop buying. Richard goes back to the 80's and was part of the group Tower of Power. His latest[ Lip Service ] immaculate.

Smooth Jazz
Not bad. Reminiscent of Chill Factor. Less of the driving, loud sax than in some of his others, which I can generally do without. Several cuts are like the old Richard Eliot, that made me like him in the first place.

Richard just keeps on getting better and better! xo
This saxophone master was the main reason I fell in love with the sound of a sax over 20+ years ago! When a Man Loves a Woman? Yes! Plus Richard is amazing in person! I have seen him over 15 times all around the U.S. and you will not be disappointed. You will be disappointed if you don't get this CD though. He rocks it as usual. Get it. ;-)

Love it, Love it, Love it!!!
I think this is one of Richard Elliot's best cd's. Every song is fantastic and there is no singing on the songs (which I love - I'd rather just hear the music and not the vocals even if they are in the background). The cd has a wonderful flow to it and it is really relaxing as well as romantic. Nice for a date night, dinner music or just to unwind. I'd recommend this cd to anyone.

Smooth Jazz At It's Best.
Quite by chance I came across Richard Elliot who happened to have a spot on a Rick Braun CD, he Is I have say my fav smooth jazz artist. This led me to buying R&R which Is a Rick&Richard combination which I liked very much.I then decided to buy Lip Service and what a good choice I made, one of those rare times when you like all the tracks. Folks definitely one of those CD's you play on a Friday Night after a crappy week, together with a large Blanton's Gold Single Barrel Bourbon what a way to finish a night. Finally let me say also that the expertise of Rick's support players really set the record off never too loud, sometimes quieter by Track I think my favourite by a nose is Track 1 Desire, beautiful start to this CD.

Never to much Sax.
Richard is a brilliant Saxophonist and rightly so, after hearing sample tracks of this album and on a Dave Koz collaboration I went for it and it is a really good album with a good range of tempo's which is very pleasing to the ear.
