The "Rambo" Nintendo game is fun to play.
If you like the movie "Rambo: First Blood Part II", which the video game is based on, then you'll also enjoy playing the NES video game. There's a few characters in the video game that are not in the movie and were created just to give the player a challenge. The cool thing is that at the end of the game, you can shoot any weapon at Murdock and he'll turn into a frog. There's a few grammer errors on the text that's shown but that's okay; the game is fun.

What a horrible game
I love Rambo. Damn this game is bad. Damn you angry video game nerd for reviewing it and making me want to play it again. lol

90's kid here. I have a RetroDuo and and of course, I needed this in my collection. I still play Nintendo games so I have to go with childhood faves and classics!

Awesome game! It's hard in places as most any NES game is, but once you get good it's fun to control.

rambo action!
Alright, continuing the habit of going through NES games based on 80's action movies, Predator was a really big disappointment, the two Terminator games are simply atrocious (and I don't think I'll EVER recover from how bad the first Terminator game is on the NES- my goodness is that an unforgiveable mistake!), so how does Rambo shape up? Let's find out! *shakes and shivers!*To begin, a helicopter drops Rambo into a forest. Immediately you can sense the controls are going to be very stiff and how about the hilariously exaggerated bulky Rambo character? LOL! And I thought Macaulay Culkin's animation looked awful in Home Alone! Rambo battles snakes, jumping tigers and yellow jackets. He meets a woman, they go on a boat ride, he asks about the good luck pendant she's wearing. More forest areas. Now you're in a blue cave (ugh, bad NES Predator memories there!) before returning to the forest to see floating skull heads zig zagging around and small insects that are really difficult to attack. You walk into a camp and through conversation find out a kid is missing north of here. You're given a lamp and to the cave you go. Bats and fireball shooting pulsating pink snakes are here, (and they are creepily animated too!) not to mention dropping spike hunks and daddy long legs with fireball spitting abilities. Use the grenades to destroy the spider. By the way the music you mostly hear throughout the game reminds me of Judas Priest's version of "Diamonds and Rust". Probably just a coincidence. You now have to travel the campsite by walking through more yellow jackets and piranha-infested waters (they jump and bite of course- did you think they'd jump up and let you pet them behind the fins?). You then arrive to a forest/bridge area with giant flamingos, bubbles and orange pigeons that fly in a straight down angle reminding me of an enemy from another game. This is when Rambo gets a lot better. After an unexpected area dealing with birds and bubbles, you arrive to the campsite where soldiers have guns and karate jump moves. Just toss daggers at 'em! Oh and watch out. There's blue kitties roaming around! The bulky guys with big clubs aren't that scary though. Rambo can handle 'em!Rescue another prisoner, run through the military campsite and get lectured by the woman (since you were only supposed to take photos of the trapped prisoner- not free them. Oops!) Carve through more soldiers with your bow and arrow and daggers. Whoa, watch out for the upcoming water section! Missiles are raining down all over the place. A huge spike in difficulty. After a surprise concerning the boat captain, you're now facing green-shirted guards with black hair in the water. It's actually rather strange how many soldiers you're fighting in the water itself throughout this area, and of course given the NES limited abilities it barely even looks like water since the water doesn't actually move.On land expect more tigers and tiny insects, and then a mountain area with falling boulders and monkeys walking around. More tigers and yellow jackets to the right, and a particularly troublesome spot where you have to jump across a series of green blocky platforms while avoiding the falling boulders. This leads into another area with missiles raining down and it's nearly impossible to dodge all of this. Then you walk with the freed prisoner, and make it to a helicopter so you can be part of a fairly detailed conversation concerning Rambo's objectives. I enjoy the storyline moments since it's usually interesting enough to keep me satisfied. I can't remember the movie at all though, so the story in the game might be drastically different from that of the movie for all I know. Threats towards Rambo and the woman are the main factors in this element of the story. The woman soon informs us that she's the General's wife. Pretty long conversation for an NES game. Back to Rambo action! You're at the military campsite shooting more soldiers. As you walk in front of the white brick wall, the guards start to change in appearance and attack methods. They like grenades now. Watch out for the motorcyclists as well! More forest (this time with flamingos and pigeons all over- hey aren't these guys supposed to be in the water?) and speaking of which another water section with more hungry piranhas up ahead! And logs falling down the river. In a cave, you face some kind of yellow cat that spreads numerous fireballs all over. Diving bats are all over the place in this cave. The body stretching pink snakes are some freaky stuff! They make a return. Another water section with flamingos, pigeons and guards when you drop down. More white brick walls, and oh, a new area! A warehouse of sorts. Guards decked out in pink attire and a robot-eye shooting fireballs. This is getting interesting! Inside the warehouse there's square skeleton things... haha! Seriously it looks like a giant ball of tumbleweed, but I'm pretty sure it's a skeleton of some kind. And more pink guards.Back outside we head to the right, and enter another interesting room with glowing disappearing/reappearing orange alien creatures. Boy these things jump to the ceiling! They act like they're being electracuted. More green guards. How hilarious is it being on the top floor and watching the guards karate kick air on the floor below! Almost looks I've stumbled upon a training area for karate masters! Expect most of these guards to kick, kick and kick some more. Spiked balls bouncing around, bronze guards who shoot arrows, and a boss fight with a guy whose head turns really big when you smack it, lol.Afterwards you head outside and ride in a helicopter. I like how this game ventures all over the place. You meet up with the woman and she offers to help fight. No, this is a job for Rambo! Into the campsite to battle more green and blue guards. Wow these guys LOVE shooting as much as they can now! In the forest there's robot guards who shoot fireballs mixed with the gun-shooting regular guards. Things are getting intense! Tall bulky guys show up in the water section. More guard shooting until the final showdown which is basically Rambo tossing grenades at a helicopter while doing your best to avoid tons of missiles raining down the screen (and battling guards as well). This is quite the hectic final boss, but at least you have health refills when your life runs low.The gameplay feels a LOT like Zelda II: The Adventure of Link. I mean a remarkable resemblance in both the towns you visit and especially the side scroller action. The play control feels identical. The only issue is that Rambo (the game) overall is only a small portion of the size of Zelda II: The Adventure of Link, so perhaps people who are hungry for more Zelda II would get their remaining fix with Rambo. You get experience points for every enemy you kill which is another similarity to Zelda II..A surprising amount of storyline is provided given how old of a game Rambo is, and much of it is pretty interesting. I'll give this game a 3. Less repetitive enemy encounters and clunky play control are the only two negatives I can find. Okayjust like in Zelda II, stand in the wrong spot and you take heavy damage even from the small enemies. This is an issue you're sure to face several times. Everything else about the game is fine. Well there is one other thing. Supposedly in certain areas, if you keep walking to the right or left you'll go around in a loop forever since in some cases the screen next to the one you're on will keep repeating. Odd glitch! But if you follow an online guide you shouldn't encounter this problem. Just remember to notice the square directional panels located on the bottom of the screen (on the ground) that say North, South, etc and you should be fine.

Good service.
Exactly how I remember this game. More oldies but goodies and it was not included in the mini classic. I had to download directions but that's to be expected. Good service.
