Henny is a chick whoโs just a little different from everyone else in the barnโand who learns to embrace her special gift in this whimsical and charming picture book debut from Elizabeth Rose Stanton. Henny doesnโt look like any other chicken she knows. Instead of wings, she has arms! Sometimes Henny likes being differentโshe enjoys the way her arms flutter like ribbons when she runsโbut other timesโฆnot so much. She just canโt do things the same way as the other chickens. But doing things the same as everyone else is overrated, as Henny comes to realize in this warmhearted story, sweetly told and illustrated with fresh, expressive artwork that celebrates the individual in everyone. Review: Instantly Lovable... - My 3-1/2 year-old daughter just started giggling as soon as she saw Henny and has wanted to read the book every night this week. There's something just instantly relatable about a chicken trying to cope with human arms, and Henny is full of humor and empathy that even young kids can grasp. The "everyone is important" message can sometimes get cliche in children's books, but Henny struck a great balance between the humor and heartache of being different, and how we can all find a path with our unique talents. Review: HUGS FOR HENNY - OMGoodness!! HENNY had me at her wave "Hello". The illustrations are enchanting and full of personality. Plus this is a story that needs to be told. Full of questioning, thinking, and learning that DIFFERENT can be GOOD, this book should be in every home and its message in every heart.

Quirky and a good lesson
I picked up the book for a few friends who have kids and they loved the book! The quirkiness caught my eye, but the underlying message made it a winner. A story of a chicken who finds her place in the world by shifting her perspective. And what a multitude of possibilities she has! A fun read.

Cute Story, Great Message
I love this book!!! I even read it to my sixth grade students (we were doing a project involving children's books) and they loved it so much that they continued to talk about it throughout the year. A cute story with a strong message - I think Henny will become a classic!

A childrens book to love!
I had been following Elizabeth Rose Stanton's posts on Face Book and was anxious to recieve my copy of this charming childrens book. It far exceeded my expectations which, by the way, were already high. The story is heartwarming and the illustrations are delightful. I would highly recommend this book for any child's library.

Loving our differences!
I read this book to Kindergarten children. They loved Henny! It's a neat story to use to point out how we are all different, but our differences are what make each of us unique and great!

Funny
This was a different aspect of a chicken's life as a picture book and full of humor.

Sometimes being different is fun, and sometimes it's not.
I love picture books. They so often convey simple life lessons that everyone can use--and often with a good, healthy dose of humor. Henny does just that. Great simple pictures and a great words to communicate the pluses and minuses of being different.

"Funny haha or funny strange?" (SNL)
Both haha AND strange. Yes, those are arms that you see on the chicken. Suffice it to say that this is a humorous take on being different and how being different has its rosy and not so rosy moments. Henny is endearing throughout. Slapstick humour is in both the writing and the illustrations. There is an especially funny scene where Henny pretends to make her arms look like wings. And it is exactly how a human would mimic a chicken. You can almost hear Henny clucking, "bock-bock," to go along with the arm-wing flapping. The ending is great (spoiler alert) because who says chickens can't fly?
