Mixed emotions with the phone
This is my second phone. I have not used the portable one yet and am staying with the land line. It has wonderful power for increasing the sound, but the least bit of movement of the phone itself will disconnect the whole thing and I have a terrible time getting it back to its normal setting. I have to unplug the cord, unplug the 2 connections under the phone and finally it comes back on. It is SO TOUCHY!! I can hear so good on it but can't move it around at all, especially when I am talking to someone. I have mixed emotions with the phone

Good for low vision and / or hearing imparied. Easy to use. Loud
I got this for a friend who is losing her sight. It is a great product for those that are low vision and hearing impaired. It is simple to program and very loud. It was a way better deal here on Amazon than in the Maxi Aids catalog. It was a good price compared to catalog orders. The only down side that I found was that the display screen letters are not very large or bright. Those with low vision or older may need someone to assist with programming this.

Okay, but not the best
The base phone works better than the remote handset. Both sets amplify sounds, but words are not always clear, and the machine makes strange screeching noises now and then. Instructions are difficult to follow and not compete. I had to call the service number to find out how to turn on the ringer on the handset; a very complicated process, and not explained in the booklet.

Too complicated for the elderly
Bought this for my 88 year old father who can't hear when talking on the phone. Was a pain to set up & so complicated for him that he can't even delete his messages. Too many steps for him....& he's still pretty sharp. If this is a product for the hard of hearing, make it simple to use for the elderly! But he CAN hear the callers!

Why oh why isn't there an excellent cordless phone for people who are hard of hearing?
Ringer volume is adjustable but NOT phone volume, which for me (60 db loss) it is either too soft or too loud. It is constantly confused about whether there is a message or not. Sometimes the desk phone unit rings but not the handheld and vice versa, at random. Please do not trust reviews by people who bought things for their parents or grandparents. They do not really know if a product is good; only if the elderly relative says so (and they will say so to make you feel good).

we have a good conversation.
My Mom has difficulty hearing any conversation on the phone. I bought her a clarifier to attach to the phone but it did not work for her at all. I purchased the Amplico Power Tel 780 Amplified corded phone. For the first time in a long time, we have a good conversation.

Corded phone
Great quality and volume goes very loud. Would recommend for anyone that misses phone calls. There are also many different ringtones for your liking. The downside would be that there are a lot of buttons and options so can be hard for someone who isn't electronically savvy.

Very nice phone set for the hard of hearing
Bought these for my Mother who was hard of hearing. It is a very nice set but, she still had hard time hearing them but, that's not the phone's fault. Loved the fact they lit up which helped.
