Bad product, bad customer service.
When I purchased this (April of 2016), their listing on Amazon said that if I was unsatisfied in any way that they would send me any grinder that I wanted as a replacement - even if it was made by another company. When I wrote to let them know that I was having problems with the grinder, they told me that they would forward my comments to the Concern Department. I didn't hear anything back, so I followed up with them and asked what the Concern Department had to say. They said that they would fix the product design. I explained that this was good for them, but it didn't fix my problem. So they said they would send me another grinder WITH THE SAME DESIGN FLAW! Fast-forward about a year...the piece that holds the burr in place cracked and the grinder no longer works. I've reached out to the company twice since then to try and get some service on the "Lifetime Warranty" (yes, it's printed on the box) and they have not responded at all. The product has received minimal use with coffee beans only. Pretty sad that their product failed and so did their customer service. If you want a paperweight after a year of light to regular use, go for it. Otherwise, don't believe anything they say and buy something worth your hard-earned money!

Liked it till the material failed [two items]
*update*Sorry to update that the second one I bought broke as well, this time after less than three months, same type of failure. In response to my question whether this was typical, I received :"Thanks for your message. We discontinued this product.-Thanks"Seller refunded the first, and initiated a refund for the second.*First review*Mine broke today, after using it for nearly 11 months. The description of the failure fits the one in this review:https://www.amazon.com/review/R8NS829GPV0OX/ref=cm_cr_rdp_perm?ie=UTF8&ASIN=B016BJ15VQI hope the company will take care of it.Till it broke --Pros:* compact* can set grinder coarsening level* traditional feelCons:* laborious (it is manual, after all)* for Italian Moka (stove top) -- the container is enough for about 2-4 persons portions

Good grinder - great CS
Update - year + of use. Washer and a plastic clip along drive shaft broke as I tried to adjust the grind. After I pulled oit apart I realized you shouldn't put too much pressure dialing it to a finer grind - the thicker particulate coffee in the burr will jam as you try to thighten. You need to dump the beans and grind out the coffee if you want to to make a major adjustment. I contacted Ice Coals via Amazon and sent me a replacement a few days later free of charge since thy do not have parts for repairs. Above and beyond. For those critical it won't do a coarse enough grind, many grinders do but can't do it fine enough for espresso - Ice Coals can. Also works great for travel inside the Aeropress.Love it. Use it for flavored coffees or single poor overs. Can get real fine. Not the fastest - but the most consistent. The company kept requesting reviews - I always wait a few months to see if problems emerge - none so far. Just a little concerned that the handle hex opening that attaches to the grinder might be expanding a little and will become less effective later. It is slow. I highly recommend this for travel and those times you are making a single, filtered pour over or to pull and espresso and you have time to manual grind. For french, cold, or other macro brew w/coarser and larger volme of coffee - get an electric burr grinder.

You get what you pay for. Consider this a disposable grinder.
Ice Coals is ice crap. All these grinders that look like this one are the same pieces of crap. Read the reviews but pay attention to what the 1 star ratings have to say. I bought this as a travel/ back up. When it was called into service on a regular basis, it did the job. But not for long. Guess what? The little plastic piece that grips the spindle broke. And now it just spins with no grinding. This is what low price, Chinese manufacturing has brought us. If I could find a reliable, durable, quality made product, I would buy it in a flash. Even at a higher price. It's the old adage: you get what you pay for.And yes, it does say "lifetime warranty" on the outside of the box. But I am not wasting my time going through the hassle of trying to get it fulfilled. Ridiculous.

What a terrific little device the Ice Coals Manual Coffee Grinder is
I just returned from a three-month tour of the United Kingdom. Prior to my departure, I purchased an Ice Coal Manual Coffee Grinder from amazon.com to take along with me so that I could freshly grind my own coffee beans each morning to brew in the travel-version french-press that I had also brought with me. What a terrific little device the Ice Coals Manual Coffee Grinder is! Works perfectly, doing precisely what I hoped it would do. I absolutely love it! When I returned home from my trip, I contacted the people at Ice Coals to inform them that I had inadvertently left the removable crank-handle portion of my coffee grinder behind in a hotel room (at the very tail end of my trip). At that time, I inquired about the possibility of purchasing a new crank-handle to replace the part that I had lost. The response of the people at Ice Coals went WAY beyond my expectations! Although they were unable to sell me the hand-crank portion of the coffee grinder by itself, they offered instead to send me a new entire Ice Coals Manuel Coffee Grinder---at no cost! They even paid for shipping. I was blown away by their generosity and the excellent customer service I received. I highly recommend the Ice Coals Manual Coffee Grinder and I cannot sufficiently praise the fabulous service that I received from the people of this company. Oh, just one last thing I wish to mention: Ice Coals was having some difficulty with its email system for a short while, so if anyone out there attempted to reach the customer-service department of Ice Coals and was unsuccessful in getting a response, I encourage you to try again. Thank you, Ice Coals!

Actual product looks a lot cheaper than in the pictures. For example, the red rubber decal is much thinner than pictured, looks dingy. The canister is very small, and the 'velvet' bag is terrible - one of the there reviewers clearly posted a different bag form what I received. Packaging was damaged, has massive typos so it seems to me this is a Chinese copy of what should be a better product. From the other reviews and pictures, I was expecting something different and I am going to return it. I think some of the reviews for this product are fake, or I received something different from everyone else. I am not happy with this product.

Good buy for the price
I'm new to grinding my own coffee, but not new to the divine cups of liquid blessings. I wanted something simple that I can take with me to grind my own coffee on trips and I don't mind ripping out a few turns on this the morning before work. I use a Chemex coffee maker, and I am pretty specific on what I like. Its pretty decent for the price. I can't say I'm upset with my purchase. I grind about 1-3 cups per day for work, so the use is pretty moderate. I pre-grind my coffee as well so I'm not rushing. Here's a quick set of Pro's and Con's so far.Pro's:Great priceEasy to adjust grind size, fill, put together, use0 issues with any of my grind sizesVewing window is good so I know how much I've ground so farSmall enough to take with me travelling/campingFunctions very well and easilyVery simply to use and cleanRed silicone grip GRIPS wellCons:Packaging is not well writtenProduct does look cheap (but then again, look what you paid for it)Bag is cheap (again: price point of product)Grind size is guesswork (rotational knob underneath that you turn up or down; no settings)Worried I might drop a part while grinding (either the turn handle or grid cup; not really a big concern or problem)Overall, I am not disappointed. I got what I paid for and I'm content with it. If I get 6 mos to a year out of it, I won't be sad at all. It's a solid product for the price, looks cheap but grinds well enough. I'll be taking it camping and travelling here soon and I'm curious how it'll hold up. If there's changes, I'll edit my review accordingly.

I love this grinder.
When I went looking for a new coffee grinder, I wanted something quiet. You don't get quieter than muscle powered. This grinder is easy and straight forward to use. There is a knob inside to adjust how fine the grind is. I have it set at the finest setting and it does a wonderful job of grinding my coffee. I use a single serve coffee maker and it takes less than a minute to grind enough coffee for my oversized coffee cup.The only issue I had was putting on the silicon sleeve that both gives you grip and hold the crank handle when not in use. But once you have put it on, you don't need to fuss with it again. My sister had a problem with putting the crank in the holder, but I found that you just give a little squeeze where it stores the crank and the handle slips in fairly easy.If I ever need another grinder, I will buy another of these again. I am thinking of maybe getting some of these for gifts. Or perhaps one for each flavour of coffee I drink.

Great grinder. Handle is not durable enough for everyday use
I have waited a while to write a review. I use this grinder at work 2 times per day. Within the first year the black knob on the handle wore off (the hole enlarged with use due to friction and the rivet pulled through the metal arm) I replaced the rivet and know with a kitchen cabinet handle and screw with rubber bushings) the grinder is sti going and making a consistent grind. The only weakness has been the handle.

Good Value
Edit: peice of junk. The plastic beween the grinder and the driving mechanism broke. Less than a year of use. Dont buy this get something more ruggedThis is my first ceramic burr grinder. I used a cheap electric blade grinder before. The Ice Coals grinder seems to work as described. The grinds are much more even than my bladed grinder and I think it does make a difference to my coffee. The plastic red grip that came with the product was a piece of garbage I threw that away. The handle seems a bit long but it is nice when you get a bit stuck on a stubborn hard bean, Overall this was a really good value and I would recommend purchasing it (I paid about $25 CAD).
