Once the Musclechuck assembly assembly has been installed on the router, it will enable the cutters to be exchanged with extreme ease. The Musclechuck assembly gives you easy access when changing cutters and eliminates the cumbersome use of wrenches. Along with it's superior grip, it also gives you some extra length when using router plates (approx. 1/2") or a router table so the full length of the cutter can be used. Consequently, because of it's extreme ease of use, no more dropped or damaged cutters or frustration will result when changing tools. The body of the new Musclechuck assembly is slotted in such a way that allows the tool shank to be held circumferentially, when the cap screw is tightened.  In the past most quick change chucks relied on one or more cams to retain the tool shank. However, theMusclechuck assembly doesn't contain a cam and because of it's superior holding capacity, larger cutters can be held more securely without damaging the shank of the tool.

Works great, but can be a chore to install with correct balance.
Good product, but I had some difficulty getting it to work right. The extra mass and larger diameter of the chuck compared to a standard router collet makes it very sensitive to any variation in mounting alignment. It had vibration problems, even after following the manufacturer's recommended procedure for dealing with it. I was sure the spindle on the router ( a Dewalt DW618) was reasonably good, because it had only .0015" runout using the standard collet. I thoroughly cleaned the chuck and the spindle, and rotated/tested the chuck in small steps through a full 360 degrees and still had vibration. I eventually found that by rotating it slightly back and forth around the desired position, with the nut just loose enough to allow it to move, then tightening the nut, I was able to get it to seat with down to .003" runout and very little vibration.

Hokds tight, changes quick. As good as i hoped.
Loving this quick change chuck. If there is one thing I hate about routers, it's changing the bit. I do a lot of pattern work with templates. I was using two routers to do it, but getting the exact same set up on two different bases of the same make proved dificult. This solved all the problems. I use it with 1.5 inch round over bits, 6 inch spiral end mill bits and top bearing straight bits. So far it's been a real time saver for my work. Hold the bits tight with no wobble on my dewalt plunge.

Didn't live up to my expectations.
The Musclechuck is a good idea, however it didn't work for me. I could never get it to run true. The vibration that it caused made it unusable and it was rather expensive.

Too much run out
It makes tool changes quick for sure. However the design is awful for any think you need more than a tenth of an inch accuracy on. I had to go back to our manual collets because this thing just couldn’t hack it
