I have loved playing backgammon for years and was looking for a nice quality board set. I ordered the medium size and am happy with everything. It is much better quality than the ones I found at Target or Walmart. However, I’m giving this 4 stars not 5 only because I was hoping for an even higher quality. I’m willing to pay for a high quality but couldn’t find what I was looking for. This one is good. But the hinges and latches feel like cheap Chinese crap. However, they work fine and look decent... for now. The stones, dice and playing surface itself are nice.

Bought this set to put in our RV so we didn't have to schlep our old and classic set back and forth. While this one appeared to be identical to our old set, quality issues were evident as soon as it came out of the box. Little things like the latches were cheaper then the 'men' playing pieces were definitely cheap and flimsy. The dice were not proportionally correct for the board (too big) and did not fit in the slot inside the board where we normally store dice. The playing field was satisfactory, but that is about all I can say for the set. Returned.

Terrific set for the money. My wife and I are just starting to learn to play and we wanted a nice, but inexpensive set to learn on. We were more than pleasantly surprised by the quality of this set. The checkers (tiles) are solid and feel nice in the hand. The stitching on the points are well done and ensure that the points lie flat so the checkers stay where they are put. The set comes with an extra die for each (black and white) and one extra checker for each color. In addition to the instruction booklet there is a small strategy booklet. The clasps on the board hold it together well and the checkers and dice are held secure when the board is closed. I would definitely recommend this set.

Great set for what I was expecting at the price point. Compact, but not small. Decent feel. People might slight the feel of the pieces or quibble over how they fit into the board. In my opinion, if you want a richer experience with a more substantial feel, you should probably pay more for it. This is a pretty good price point for a decent, portable, entry-level board. It's unlikely this board will ever become a beloved heirloom, but it could be around a family room for a while. Obviously, one could go cheaper with cardboard and plastic checkers, but this product isn't for that crowd. Five star for what I was expecting.I've seen a review about one that had a defect. None in mine. It sounds like that was a manufacturer's defect (versus design defect). The board is completely free of flaws.

One spare chip and die of each color. Chips are 1" diameter and 3/16" thick. Points are just slightly larger at base than chips are in diameter so all points can easily be occupied by one base chip. Dies and doubling cube are each 5/8" square. Each cup is 1-7/16" wide x 2-15/16" long x 2-11/16" deep. Includes a sheet of rules and another sheet with playing strategies. Latches have a small spring loaded ball detent to keep them from accidentally opening. One downside is that the game pieces fall out of their storage positions because the mating half of the box also ahs same game piece void which of course is empty. Duh! Nonetheless, I would buy again.

Great product, well designed. My 12 yr old son and I have recently fallen in love with the game of Backgammon. This is a fantastic set. It was purchased as a Christmas gift. My son and I love it. I looked a Toys R Us and other local kids stores, this was was the best quality for the best price. You won't be disappointed. I wouldn't recommend the smaller sizes of boards. We bought the big board and I'm so glad we did.

This backgammon set is nice looking and pleasant to handle. It has all the pieces, dice, cups, etc, and they even send spares in case you lose a die or a checker. The interior is soft and the points are sewn down and pretty much flush with the board. It closes up securely and is easy to open. I got the 18", which offers plenty of room and portability, because I had gotten a super nice one from Ukraine that I didn't want anyone else to touch. But I wanted a board that I could actually play with someone on. Had a little email chat with a manager at customer service about the way Amazon is shipping their game boards and she was friendly enough. All in all I am glad I purchased this board and would recommend it.

This is a nice board for coffee table play. I ordered the large set and it is not too big to leave out. I was happy to see extra pieces included so lost men or dice will not be a problem.

Very pleased with this purchase. The backgammon case is well made, decorative strips line up outside and inside the case (unlike a previous reviewer commented). The pips are stitched beautifully inside on the game board and the dice and dice cups are perfect, no flaws. We needed a new game for the cottage and this will be perfect for us.
