Third time's a charm. Works exactly as expected and as I hoped it would.
I've tried a variety of USB multi-port adapters, one from ECHTPOWER ( ECHTPower(TM) High Speed USB 3.0 Hub 3-Port with 10/100/1000M RJ45 Gigabit Ethernet Lan Wires Netword Adapter for iMac, MacBook Air, MacBook Pro, Mac Mini, PC and Laptops(Black) , ) and another from INATECK ( [2-in-1] Inateck Unibody Aluminum 3 Ports USB 3.0 Hub with Driver-Free RJ45 10/100/1000 Gigabit Ethernet Adapter Converter LAN Wired Network Adapter, Built-in 1ft USB 3.0 Cable ) and when they worked they worked well.Problem was they didn't work all the time. if moved even just slightly, if the USB connector twists in one way or another, it would stop working. I've tried this on 4 different computers and experienced the same problem so as to eliminate that variable. Of the previous two, the Inateck proved more reliable even though the Echtpower felt like the better built. Regardless, they proved problematic enough to warrant my first bying a second and now a third USB port and this one from Maketech is the most solid performing one yet. It has 1 less usb port than the other two but my primary use for those would be my wireless moues and keyboard so no real problem there.Other 3 port models will have their 3-3.0 usb ports plus one additional outlets which has been filled by either an Ethernet port or an SD card reader. This model has both though personally, I don't find much use for an SD card reader. Use of a proper cloud server tends to eliminate the need for such readers. A third USB port would give this a 5 star rating. Another feature I appreciated was the "L" shaped USB connector such that plugging it into your tablet, in my case a Surface Pro, will have the cord run straight down the side of the tablet rather than jut out and dangle loosely. Especially when I've found these other two versions mentioned above proved sensitive to the touch.

Almost a good solution...
I like the number of ports and the Gigabit ethernet adapter. Everything worked fine until I tried to transfer pics/videos from an iPhone to a 32 Gb USB drive on my Surface Pro 3. Plugged in my iPhone and a USB 3.0 drive to the two USB ports. Multiple power surge errors kept popping up. Had to reboot to make it all go away. Tried again after reboot and the same thing happened. I have other unpowered USB hubs with ethernet adapters that don't exhibit this behavior when used in this configuration (they also don't have the SD/microSD slots that I like on this one). Perhaps a power adapter option in certain situations?

MAKETHECH for Surface Pro
I love the product. It is very portable and allows me to leave the docking brick and the docking station at home when I am on a business trip. The USB port I lose on the surface3 is gained back times 2. Also when using just the power brick I have the flexibility to use hard wired Ethernet connection. Using 1 USB port and getting 2 USB ports, an Ethernet connection, 2 SD slots, a place to hold my pen and a light is awesome. All and all this device is worth every penny I spent. I highly recommend this item.

Must have for Surface users looking to use multiple USB connections
This product works great for my Surface Pro. I love the fact that this gives me the capability to "hard wire" a ethernet cord into my surface when I am in the office. This also allows for multiple USB ports allowing me to fully connect to a full size keyboard and mouse. The connection from the dock is USB not Surface data cable allowing for devices other than my surface to connect making it super easy to use my regular laptop or surface depending on my preference. I have had this for about two weeks now, no issue and works great.

The cord is short if your using a tablet stand.
The Microsoft pro 4 has only on USB port and I need two, so it works. Only complaint I have is the cord is a little short if you use a tablet stand holder, I'll have to look and see if I can find a longer cord or contact manufacturer. The stylus is not very stable. like the on off switch. Not quite sure why it has a blue light at the bottom of it.

Inexpensive solution to a simple problem.
The only downfall I saw with this product was the cord to attach it to my Surface Pro 4 was a little short restricting how far I could move things around my desk. The lack of additional USB ports on my Surface was frustrating so this was an awesome, inexpensive solution.

Great except for stylus holder
Nice product, does exactly as described. My only complaint is I assumed from the picture that it would hold the stylus firmly, however the hole for the stylus isn't deep enough for my surface 3 pen and it wobbles around when it's placed in it.Besides that though everything else works great.

excellent- finally one that works great.
I have tried others and this one worked well when I placed a wireless mouse USB and used the second USB for my 256 GB memory stick and both worked flawlessly. Try to have the Surface Pro 4 hooked up to charging to give you maximum power and efficiency. I use it everyday. I used a HP wireless USB mouse with excellent results.

Nice stylus holder. Looks cool on my desk.
Nice stylus holder. Looks cool on my desk. Ethernet adapter works well : I get my connection's full speed : 500 mbps. If, like me, you us it with a laptop, beware that the USB adapter to the USB port is not straight, but make a 90 degres angle, which can obstruct an other USB port on the laptop. And if you want to use another USB cord, you'll need a real USB 3.0 cord.
