Structured
Each Spring I choose a new fitness regime for the next few months. Last year I used 4 Hour Body and that worked pretty good, and this year I'm going to use this one. I found this book is a great program for people who are keeping themselves in decent shape, but now want a bigger challenge. Best of all, the fact that the program is both scheduled month by month and measurable, means it should be easier to stick to. Great book, now let's see how it all comes together!

Advice from an expert
Professional advice from an expert. I am one of those 9-stone weaklings that used to feature in Charles Atlas adverts, but I did spend a lot of my life in a sport that could be punishing - racing sailing dinghies. Later in life, I used to visit a friend who had a gym in his house, so I have played with weight training a bit, even if I did seem to my friend to be totally uncaring about upper body development. I had the muscles and cardio development I needed for what I did, and I liked being that way. I enjoyed this book, but I have one small reservation. Jim does advise you to consult your doctor, and warns that supplements are just that - only to be used in small doses - but some people who are attracted to bodybuilding are not very intelligent. I would have liked to see a warning that there are guidelines (e.g. from the European Food Safety Authority) about safe levels of creatine intake per day. If you exceed these, or of you suffer from certain medical problems, you can put yourself at serious risk.

Excellent intro from someone who actually knows what he is doing...for once...
As an ex bodybuilder myself I am going back to the gym over the age of 50 now after 10 years off and downloaded this book to see how things may have changed and surprisingly they have - writers are now writing for the real person and not just us 5 days a week split system, matrix routine, isometrics hardcore bodybuilders.I am no longer hardcore and its nice to see someone who knows what they are talking about as an old Muscle and Fitness fan a lot of what was written was just to sell Maximuslce supplements etc but this guy actually does know his stuff. Its not for the casual gym goer , it is for people who have willpower and will actually have the ability to pursue a proper training regime - I haven't ever tried this type of routine but I can honestly say it has made me look forward to going back after 10+ years away from the gym and getting back into the routine!

Amazing start to my journey.
Very good book, very well written with excellent use of knowledge, the year long workout you get set is really well laid out with brilliant pictures and explanations of each move you're asked to do.

Exactly what i was looking for, a great read.
A great read, clear and informative without too much jargon or new 'fad' content. I'm into my running and endurance but looking to add some strength and muscle. I like to think i'm pretty clued up with my knowledge but this book gives me clear guidance around nutrition and easy to follow training blocks in 12 week 'chunks'. Jim uses classic, proven exercises but has used his own proven experience to arrange these into a training plan. The book doesn't promise the world in a few weeks but clearly outlines that if you give it your commitment you will be rewarded with the results. Will definitely be looking at other books from this guy.
