First-rate melodic pop-metal. Def Leppard tracks like "Let's Go,"..."All Time High" and "Broke 'n' Brokenhearted" exude the band's classic mix of Seventies pomp-glam riffing, Eighties electro-shock rhythms and patented, tremendously stacked chorus vocal harmonies in a manner that's strikingly redolent of their past. But the album also finds the band moving beyond well-trod territory, as evidenced by the slinky pop-funk strut of "Man Enough," the downtuned, acoustic psych-blues of "Battle of My Own" and the sleek New Wave isms of "Invincible." - Rolling Stone

Classic Def Leppard - You Can't Go Wrong Here!
Holy cow, Def Leppard is BACK! I'm sure "Let's Go" is going to catch flack for sounding a lot like "Pour Some Sugar on Me", but it really is a quite different song. I can't say I just love the opening 30 seconds ahead of the song kicking into gear, and the repeated "do you really really want to do this now?" over and over (get's redundant and tiring), but the rest is excellent. Dangerous is possible their best rocker in 20 years - this song is truly CLASSIC Def Leppard. "We Belong" is excellent, featuring vocals from each of the band members (who do an excellent job); and "Last Dance" really shows the range of this band with an awesome slower paced and lyrically thoughtful tune that should be all over the radio. Sav's bass is prominent in several of the songs in a way I don't recall in recent albums, and the songs are greatly improved for it. I highly recommend this album. Fan or not, if you like any form of rock, there are plenty of great songs here that should appeal to you.

warped...pft.
brand new 180G record...warped in TWO places! about 1/16th of an inch. pft.side 1: snoooooze (did they get a new singer?)side 2: [asleep]...song 2 woke me up though[goes to get their 1st 4 albums off my shelf to assist in my recovery from being put to sleep by this one]side 3 & 4: i really cant endure anymore slow love songs with Elliot barely whispering the vocals...maybe i'll update later.the song on Side 2 that rocked is called "Sea Of Love"...and it was very good. the rest is Snooze-worthy at best.{update} OK, so i got my cash back on those damned warped LP's and bought the $5 CD....and quite honestly it is a MUCH better listening experience without all the warping annoying me...ANNND i added the 3 studio tracks from the live Mirrorball album to the beginning of this CD and those 3 added songs really make this CD quite listenable...increases the rocking songs vs slow lovey-dovey songs to make a decently upbeat album...no, it aint Pyromania, but i will be listening to it again i think...so 2-stars becomes 4 stars. (Joe really isn't singing up to his best ability i feel)

Def Leppard in 2015
This was better than I expected. I am a huge fan having collected cd singles (remember those?), bootlegs, etc., over the years. Everyone screams "Well it isn't Pyromania!" Of course, it isn't. The members of the band are all in their 50s and they have adjusted their musical style over the years. What you get is probably their most diverse work since Retroactive which has been my favorite album since it first hit my CD player. You get rockers, pop songs, and even a funk track. They experiment more with their sound without throwing their entire sound out the window. (See X for that garbage.) It is also the first album in a long while where Joe Elliott sings within his current vocal range. Their Viva Hysteria live album would have been 5 stars except he tried to sing like he was still 20 which he cannot do anymore. Finally, I find the title perfect because it truly represents Def Leppard over 30 years. You have the arena rock track "Let's Go" and the Photograph sounding "Dangerous" but the hidden gems are the tracks that could have appeared on Slang, Retroactive or Euphoria.

More hits than misses to be found here! Good Def Lep Album
I believe with this album Def Leppard finally stopped trying to go for the cheap gold by making copious ballads and other softer pop songs and opted for genuine Rock instead. What they've done here is make a bunch of good songs that exhibit considerable range. "Let's Go" "Dangerous" (two great trips down memory lane-think of "Let's Go" as part three of the "Pour Some Sugar on Me" - "Let's Get Rocked" trilogy, and "Dangerous" is a slick blend of "Photograph" and " Tear it Down") and the Queen-influenced "Man Enough" are a great one-two-three punch to start the album with. The two songs that grow on you are "We Belong" and "Energized" the latter being HATED by me until the tenth or eleventh time I listened to it. Now it's my favorite track! The only song I skip is "Sea of Love." This track just doesn't sound like Def Leppard. At all. Sorry!"All Time High" "Battle of My Own" "Broke n Brokenhearted" and "Forever Young" insert some nice 70s Hard Rock energy into the middle of the Album, while "Last Dance" and the Beatles-Esque "Wings of an Angel" with the album and nice calm warm down to the finish line.So there you have it: 13 good or great tracks and one clunker. Get this album!

There's the Def Leppard I know and love!
It's so good to hear the original Def Leppard sound once again. It's hard to top the success of the Hysteria album and the band knew that it would be next to impossible to recreate that success with the onslaught of Alternative Rock bands entering the scene. I stood by the band during what could only be referred to as their awkward stage. In 1992, the band released Adrenalize and while it was not as popular as Hysteria, they still sounded like Def Leppard. Then they released Slag which landed with a thud because they were trying to be something that they weren't. Then, they tried to revive themselves by performing with Taylor Swift and trying to be country. So, just to the point I where I was seriously questioning the bands direction, they came out with this album. Finally, Def Leppard has come full circle and is getting back to its roots. Welcome back boys!

Back on top
I must admit to being a bit dissapointed about Leppard recently. Sure, Sparkle Lounge was a good attempt to re capture their glory days and the closest they've come for a long time, but, it still left me unsatisfied.I bought this more out of habit, got it, played it (in the background while working) and there it sat on the shelf for quite a while. Then, one day, looking for something different to play, I threw this on. What the hell happened then! How could I have ignored this for so long? This album sums up what Leppard are all about, this is what they do when they are firing on all cylinders.Classic Leppard sound, the best songwriting they have committed to record for years. It is, simply, class!Once it gets under your skin, it will be played and played, suddenly, my favorite Leppard album.Get it!!

If it's not broken why try to fix it....
The last Def leppard album I bought was Slang and I was really disappointed with their musical direction at that time, so much so that I vowed never to buy another of their albums again. Anyways I heard some of this albums tracks on Amazon prime. To cut a long story short I was impressed that this album harks back to the Hysteria/Pyromania/Adrenalize albums which to me is the band's Golden era. Why they tried to change musical direction with such a successful formula I have no idea, but I am happy to say that this album sounds just like the material I used to and still do, love.

Just one thing wrong !
There's just one thing wrong with listening to DL. Listen to any one of their albums and you'll not want to listen to anything else. Absolutely outstandingly brilliant, why I've left it so long I don't know, but I'm now making up for lost time. I've now got 9 of their albums AND a DVD

Uplifting!!
This is the best thing they have done in years, unashamedly pop/rock which is what they do so well. The song writing melodic and beautify performed maybe the lyrics are simple but who cares when it sounds so good! Just listen to it for what it is without historical hang-ups and it will put a smile on your face!

Def Lep are back - And they're not quite done...
As someone who appreciates the older bands and just, well, better music, I'm always wary about listening to a band's 'new stuff' - And this was no exception. The fact Def Leppard are still going boggles the mind, and to create a new album is no small feat. However, is it actually any good? The short answer is yes.The long answer is yes, it most certainly is. This album has material that harkens back to the band's glory days, of 'Hysteria' and 'Adrenalize', with production similar to 'High 'N Dry' in some ways. However it has some of their own stuff that branches off the norm, hence the eponymous, imaginative title, 'Def Leppard' - It's their own album with no record label, it's even 'liberating', quotes Joe in a BBC interview. The first three tracks are possibly the best from the album - An interesting but hardly bad point. 'Let's Go' is so 'Def Leppard', with a big chorus, glorious production and enough backing vocals to kill a cat. It's a terrific opener that essentially tells listeners, 'Buckle up and get ready for an hour you won't forget.''Dangerous' is another good track, generic at times but still typical Leppard. 'Man Enough' is mine and I imagine most peoples' favourite track from the entire album. It's catchy opening bass lick that anchors the whole song is so easy to hum to, with lyrics that invigorate the audience - Are you 'man enough' to hear such sound?!'We Belong' is a much slower but, for the most part, typical Lep song, with a generic 'lovey' message. It's a nice 4 or so minutes, and is a nice contrast to 3 high-energy, up-tempo songs.'Invincible' and 'Sea Of Love' are two songs that also utilize a med-tempo speed, and can easily be sat through and listened to. They're possibly among the most forgettable on this album, but seeing as I remember every song on it... I wouldn't take much notice.'Energized' is a slightly different track from Lep but still keeping to the old ways. I could honestly see it on HnD any day of the week.'All Time High' goes back to that invigorating track that you can't but bang your head to. It's pure action in a song.'Battle Of My Own' and 'Broke 'N Brokenhearted' are two slower, but more meaningful songs, and glide peacefully by as you come to realise the album is beginning to reach the end, but not without some fireworks first.'Forever Young' and 'Last Dance' are beautiful songs that add to this album that touch of not just action and fast-pace, but also meaningful lyrics and... impact.'Wings Of An Angel' is the last fast track we'll see on this album and the penultimate song overall. It's amazing, it's catchy, it's Lep. What more do I have to say?And lastly, 'Blind Faith' which beautifully draws the album to a sterling close. Well done, Sheffield lads!Overall, it's a good album. Not as good as 'Hysteria' or 'Pyromania', or even the experimental 'Slang', but then... could it ever be? It's easily an 8 out of 10 for me and I'm glad I took the leap into this newer stuff. If this is what Lep will be rocking out to until the day they die, I saw rock on!Def
