WildView TK40 Game Camera
We have only used this product for a short time, but so far I am quite impressed. The size is very compact which makes it great for concealing from view...I bought it primarily to catch any poachers/trespassers. The pictures are very crisp and clear. However, the 8MP designation is not quite accurate...I gather from the literature that it interpolates from 5MP to achieve the 8MP image...how does that work(?)...no matter, as the pictures are great. We have not captured any nighttime IR pictures yet so I will need to update this review later. One particular feature I really like is the incorporation of physical slide switches to 'instantly' change some of the camera settings rather than scroll through an endless series of digital menu items. Eight AA batteries is a bunch, but cheaper than C batteries that most cameras use. Even at this early stage I am contemplating purchase of another.

Worked great, out of the box (but here are some tips)
My first game camera.I was trying figure out what was eating the cat food left out in the garage (I didn't mind, I just wanted to know if it was a stray cat, a rat, a possum, a raccoon, or whatever). I checked it this morning and found the answer(s) to my question...see photos below. Some tips when you order it:- it arrived in a plain cardboard box, inside the Amazon box, with the camera wrapped in bubble wrap and the owner's manual was a stapled Xerox copy. I called Customer Service. They said this was not a used item, but rather the basic packaging they use when selling through Amazon. (This allows them to sell below full retail).- instructions inside lid explain how to install batteries. They don't, however, mention that you should ensure that the camera is in the "Off" position before installing batteries or the SD card (per the manual). I was lucky...it was in the Test position, but didn't damage the camera.- I called to find out about SD cards. They said to use a plain vanilla SD card, not HC or XC or Ultra, etc. I found a 2GB card and it works fine. I'll try one of my higher capacity HC cards later, but won't be surprised if there's a problem (some on the Amazon comment page have said certain of the newer cards didn't work). We'll see if the camera lasts, but so far it's a winner.

DO NOT buy this inferior product!
I do not recommend this product. When it works, it "eats" batteries. After two attempts to use it to see what was getting into my wife's garden-and no pictures, I contacted WIldview customer service. Their response was that I could only use a "plain" SD card show on their "approved list", NO SD HC or other photography recommended SD cards. Their "we ain't gonna stand behind this product" response as well as this camera is CRAP!

Stopped working
When the unit was working I found the picture and video quality to be great. it is very sensitive so you have to make sure it's angled just right or you'll be taking pictures of stuff farther out than you probably want to. Only issue is it stopped working and I couldn't get it to power on, I thought the batteries had gone dead so I replaced the 8 AA batteries and it still wouldn't come on. I took it home and left on my work bench as I was going to eventually call the manufacturer and about a week I decided to try it again and it worked so I'm not sure if it got too cold (temps were down to mid teens at night) and it froze or what. Nice cam, just not sure if it likes the cold.

Really poor product.
Really poor product.. received two of these.. loaded batteries, and set up on video.. the good news.. set up is a no brainer.. image is clear in daylight.. bad news.. totally insensitive to movement.. I could never get the video to trigger after dark.. in daylight I mounted camera on top and either side of a set of low steps.. and flipped a frisbee out a 75' multiple times.. straight away from the cameras.. they never did trigger on my 75 pound aussie.. coming or going.. don't waste your time...

Surprisingly Good Pictures!
This has been a great game camera. It takes surprisingly good pictures! I would say if you are using this strictly for deer or larger sized animals, it is going to be great for you, especially at this price point. Fawn and small animals may not set off the motion detector, which is my reason for the one star deduction as I wanted to use this to capture raccoon and other small nuisance animals in my yard.

Easy to use
I can't really tell that it records in high definition (unless it's HD in video only) but the quality of the still photos are fine, not as clear as I thought, but pretty good. I like how simple it is to use, and I like how the infrared is black (you don't see it light up). However, I noticed a deer ran off when it looked at the camera as if is saw the infrared lights come on (I don't know what happened). The price is good too.

Great night shots. NO (red) GLO. Completely undetectable.
I believe StealthCam now owns Wildview so this model is now STC-WV40NG. Great night shots. Much brighter than my StealthCam STC-RX36NG which is the comparable model. I hope StealthCam didn't just buy WV to get rid of the competition but incorporates the WV superior features. Fairly easy to setup with switches but a bit clumsy with some LCD menu settings on the front while pressing the buttons on the back.

Consumer beware.
No real warranty. 30 day token "warranty" expire by the time you receive the camera and properly test it. Mine showed couple of pics where the IR light didn't trigger, so they appeared just dark red/brownish hardly visible what is on it.. I thought maybe just a glitch. But the number of those pics increased in few days. So I contacted the seller who was "sorry the camera didn't work to my expectation but it is past the warranty". So now it's basically just daylight camera. I have lot more luck with cheap stealthcam STC-P12 that came as 2 pack cameras, bought at Canadian Tire dept. store on sale, costing less than just one TK-40. Strangely despite the STC-12 of just 12 diodes the illumination appears about the same as the no glow TK-40. So I guess these diodes are either more powerful or the camera sensitivity much better. And BTW the dim glow of STC-12 is hardly noticeable and only when set for videos and when you know where the camera is . For pictures the glow is too short to notice even if you know where the cameras is. AND it has standard one year warranty. Shows you don't always get what you pay for.
