There is $2 wine... And then you have $100 wine. Store olive oil and up olive oil. Normal coffee and fresh single origin coffee... Can you taste the difference between the two? If you can this is the soy sauce for you. This thing is amazing.

This is fantastic. Nice mellow aged flavor. I'll never go back to the harsh mass-produced stuff that I was raised on. This is a thoughtful product. If you cannot appreciate the subtle differences in quality, if you need soy sauce with an extreme salty punch, then this product is not for you. The packaging matches the thought put into the product. It is not a gimmick. Plus it makes a fine gift already wrapped. In my case I rip it off and throw it away to get at the bottle. But I like that the producers know their product deserves this extra attention to detail, the same attention given their product. It's real. You should buy some and try it.

did not come in wrapped paper like displayed and bottle was open. Although a fermented product I'm cautious to try and no return policy of which I understand being a food item but as culinary professor it's hard to expand a pupil's mind when you cant get them a product. First review I've given and kind of ashamed it's based on my life's work with food to be honest. Dont know if this is 1 star material but I'm saddened a bit...

This is obviously a quality product, there is complex flavor there. However, it is overwhelmed by the extreme salty taste. I can only liken it to eating anchovies straight out of the can. I would warn buyers that this is not to what is referred to as "American taste". IT is far stronger than anything in your grocers. I will find an occasional use for this in cooking, but by and large I'll stick with everybody's favorite - Kikoman.

I purchased this on a lark. I figured soy sauce was soy sauce. Boy was I wrong. The flavour of this is so much smoother and cleaner - for lack of a better way of describing it. The flavour enhances rather than masks. It's still heavy in sodium, of course; but, the flavour is of the quality that I find myself dipping my sticks in it and licking them off just as a 'treat'. Seriously good stuff. I'm a convert.

Hands down this is a delicious soy sauce but, wow! You'd think the shipping dept would think to put some air cushions or bubble wrap in a box containing a GLASS bottle! The first time I ordered this it shattered in transit and the soy sauce soaked through the box. My dog was the first to find the package and of course the delicious umami-rich scent was completely irresistible to her. I opened my front door to find the box in tatters on the front lawn and BROKEN GLASS all over the place. I called Amazon and they sent me a replacement for free. (Thanks, Amazon!) All in all, it seemed like a silly mistake but a forgivable one.Two days later, I was outside when the mailman arrived with my replacement soy sauce. I received my package, and as an added bonus, a 15 minute lecture about how the soy sauce had contaminated the other packages in the mailman's truck as well as the truck itself. Several packages in his truck had to be transferred to his colleague who also ended up having to endure the smell of soy sauce all shift long. Apparently, the entire post office staff had declared they were traumatized to the point where they would not be able to eat "Chinese food" for a very long time.After apologizing profusely to the mailman, I went inside to open my package and discovered that yet again, the soy sauce had been rolling around in a box without any packaging material inside. Thankfully, the soy sauce gods had blessed me that day, as the bottle was in tact. Now I'm at a crossroads because my husband and I devoured the soy sauce in record time and are jonesing for more. I want to reorder so badly but the personal cost is so great I don't know if I can do it. Is it worth risking my dog's safety? Is it worth facing the vengeance of the mailman and his cronies? I don't know. Stay tuned and pray for me.

Exquisite. Everything about this soy sauce is a treasure. From the wrapping, which is real paper and what seems to be hand-stamped lettering, to the delicious taste of this aged soy sauce. I save it for dipping as it's flavor is obviously something to be savored and not mixed into something cooked. And because it's more expensive than Tamari or an organic soy sauce one could get from a super market shelf, it deserves special treatment. I have already given it as a present.

We are big fans of this soy sauce. Have you ever tried one of those weird off-brand soy sauces and all you taste is salt or worse, then go back to your favorite brand with a sigh of relief? If so, we'll warn you. Try this stuff, and you'll never go back to your old brand. This is real rich stuff. We wouldn't waste it in a marinade, but it is our go to soy sauce for everything else.

This is incredibly different to your regular soy, there is a fantastic flavour to it. The taste is much richer than the standard soy sauces. I highly recommend it, makes an excellent gift for a food lover.

Think flank steak versus tenderloin. American kraft cheddar slices versus a great English cheddar. I had no idea what soy sauce could be until I tasted this. It’s expensive and I use it for finishing only. If you’re prepared to spend a bit more on the food you prepare, this is one item that will truly give you a bang for your buck. It is now a staple in my pantry. I almost hesitated to submit this review because it’s a very small operation and supply often lags demand, my orders are sometimes backlogged by months. But I have to acknowledge this company and their commitment to quality.

This is an admittedly more expensive shoyu, but well worth it. A deep, rich flavour that is nothing like the cloying and salty soy that’s found in supermarkets. This would be wasted as just an ingredient in sauce. Enjoy it directly on simple dishes where the flavour will come through.

This is a serious commitment to soy sauce. It's not cheap and it's supposed to go in the refrigerator. One one hand it is the best soy sauce I've ever owned. On the other hand it's probably 20x the price of the soy sauce I usually buy. All the superlatives "depth of flavour" are true, but like drinking a fine bottle of Châteauneuf-du-Pape ruins you for the $15 Aussie Shiraz you stockpiled for special occasions, this makes you realised just how mean and basic the $2/L Aldi version is. Buy it, enjoy it, then don't try to replicate the experience until your are sufficiently intoxicated not to know the difference.

This is unlike any soy sauce I've ever had. Excellent taste and color, very well balanced, it really makes a difference when preparing meals. We went through half a bottle in less than a month; wish we could Subscribe and Save to this item. Brilliant.

Dieses Shoyu ist nicht zu vergleichen mit anderen Billigprodukten. Der Geschmack ist sehr fein und angenehm. Wie verwenden es sehr oft in unserer Küche.

Es mag sein das geschmacklich gut ist und traditionell hergestellt ist, aber das Rohmaterialursprung GENSOJA ist, da findet man es heraus est zu Hause, wenn womöglich die Flasche schon geöffnet ist. Finde nicht korrekt und schon gar nicht für insgesammt 30,00€ mit Portokosten. Nicht jeder will modifizierten Lebensmitteln essen.....

Wow! Really tasty. Regular soy sauce is just black liquid, in comparison. Use less - salter than regular store bought soy sauce.

The wait for this product was well worth it. The flavours are far superior to the normally processed sauce you buy off the shelf.

Very rich flavour that can transform a meal. I use it for sushi and also for garnishing a meal that needs a little something extra.
