Review: Great value compact tabletop gaming terrain - I purchased the Outlands Core box set for around Β£50 to use as terrain for 9th edition 40k. The box contains thick sheets of cardboard with the terrain components already printed and ready to pop out and use, plus plastic clips to join together the components to make buildings/structures. The cardboard feels sturdy and decent quality, and the printed designs are fairly detailed. The pieces pop out easily with no tearing or rough edges, and assembly is relatively straightforward to figure out although instructions are not included. The kit has a tone of options for assembly, being fully modular to allow you to build the buildings in different configurations to suit your needs. Many pieces have windows or doors which can be popped out to create an opening, or left in place for closed shutters or doorways. All the pieces are double-sided to further customise the look of buildings and structures if wanted, and allow open walls and doors without showing bare cardboard. In addition to the square/oblong buildings that make up the bulk of the kit, there are also parts to build a watchtower and geodesic dome, which have grooves cut into them to allow the cardboard to bend around corners. There are also pieces to build small crates and furniture to further customise your battlefield.
