Rick's exciting debut album! The late, great funkateer electrifies on You and I; Mary Jane; Hollywood; Dream Maker; Sexy Lady , and more, accompanied by his Stone City Band. Come get it!

Come Get It! is a classic album. And the album is a serious nostalgic trip back to a time when music was unforgettable.
Come Get It! had a title that drew you in and lyrics and beats that kept you playing this album from 1978 to the present. Rick James was super serious about being a superstar and a musician to be reckoned with as evidenced by the contents of this album.I would say the only drawback of this album was that tracks 1 and 8 ("Stone City Band, Hi!" and "Stone City Band, Bye!") didn't have Rick James singing on them at all. But the Stone City Band made up for it with an attractive beat (the same music production was used on both tracks) on both of those tracks. My favorite songs on this album are:Track 2: "You and I"Track 7: "Hollywood"Track 6: "Mary Jane"Track 5: "Be My Lady"You have up-tempo beats, disco beats, love ballads, and dance beats. This album was a blueprint on how you put together a disco-era album.

PHENOMINAL
THE VERY FIRST DAY I HEARD "YOU AND I" ON THE RADIO (IN THE '80's), I WAS IN LOVE. HAVING NEVER SET EYES ON RICK JAMES, I KNEW HE WAS EVERYTHING HE SOUNDED LIKE. I DIDN'T SEE HIM FOR THE FIRST TIME UNTIL I WAS INTO ABOUT 6 MONTHS OF PLAYING THE "COME GET IT" ALBUM OVER AND OVER AGAIN. RICK APPEARED ON DICK CLARK'S "AMERICAN BANDSTAND" AND DON CORNELIUS' "SOUL TRAIN" AND WAS EVERYTHING I THOUGHT HE'D BE. I WAS WORSE THAN "IN-LOVE" AFTER THAT AND LOVED HIM EVER SINCE. EVEN WHEN RICK APPEARED (SEVERAL TIMES AS THE SHOW'S MOST REQUESTED CELEB) AS SPECIAL GUEST ON BILL MAHER'S "POLITICALLY INCORRECT" LATE NIGHT, JUST TO TALK, NO SINGING, I HAD TO BE THERE, GLUED TO THE TUBE. I LOVED ME SOME RICK ANYWHERE, ANYTIME! HE WAS HILARIOUS! HE HAD SUCH A GREAT SENSE OF HUMOR IN ANY FORUM HE WAS INVITED TO BE A PART. I MISS HIM ALL THE TIME NOW, ESPECIALLY WHEN I PLAY OR HEAR HIS MUSIC SOMEWHERE. FINDING THIS ALBUM ON CD WAS GOLD AND HAS A VERY SPECIAL PLACE IN MY HEART. RICK'S "GARDEN OF LOVE", I'VE OWNED ON LP SINCE THE '80's AS WELL BUT I'VE YET TO BUY IT ON CD FROM AMAZON SINCE IT WAS A LITTLE TOO COSTLY LAST I CHECKED. I DID BUY THE "STREET SONGS" CD THE SAME DAY AS "COME GET IT" TO REPLACE MY WORN OUT ALBUMS. YOU'LL LOVE THEM TOO IF YOU ARE INDEED A TRUE FAN.

Rick has done some good stuff before this one came out
Miss ya Rick :) Now about this Cd of his. Rick has done some good stuff before this one came out. Right about here though, I believe he was looking to elevate his game. He does so here with a collection of songs that cover some new ground for him and the band. lots of funk, Rick James style. As I do a lot of the time, I won't try and tell you which songs are the best, I will say that it is worth the money you spend to have in your possession.

I'm Rick James B#TCH....!
Dave Chappelle made this line famous "I'm Rick James B#TCH...!" but only those a few generations before '03 or '04 would be aware of this Pioneer of Funky,Urban R &B music. He is legendary from the '70s until his unfortunate demise but you can still hear the influence of his music in today's sampled music. However, nothing beats the original songs he wrote/sang & played!Go ahead give his music a listen bet you'll enjoy it : )-Ms.D.M.
A part ça ?
