Best buy we've made for winterizing!
I must say that I am thrilled to death with this hose! It's been working fantastically this past week and a half during freezing weather. (Hopefully it will stay working like this in the long run. )After reading other reviews, I did install it on a warm day, I also used plumbers tape which prevented any leaking, and to protect my investment I bought cheap foam wrapping from Walmart for the length of the hose. It's great to have peace of mind knowing that even when we are not in our rig we don't have to worry about any pipes busting. Great for full-timers like ourselves!

Quite After First Use
This is our second Pirit heated hose. Our first one finally quit after about 3 years of use. We bit the bullet and decided to purchase another one after a failed attempt at heat tape and insulation. We used the new hose for the first time last night and it froze right away. The temperature only dropped down to 13 degrees, and this hose is supposedly rated to -40 degrees. I requested a replacement in hopes that our first one was just bad luck. Crossing our fingers that the new does as designed; it's never fun fighting with your water in the middle of winter.

NONE of these work.... This one not even once....
This is at least the 6th heated hose that I have purchased, both Pirit and other brands. This one was nonfunctional out of the box, and this has occurred before, but it strikes me that the ONLY way that a manufacturer can create a product that works so poorly (if at all) is by charging so much more than the manufacturing cost, that they can afford to replace them over and over and over again. I thought MAYBE by buying the 50 foot hose versus the 100 foot hose that I'd have more luck. Nope. This one didn't work out of the box. Froze the first night. Put it back into a heated room, defrosted it, plugged it in again (twice) and still have a frozen hose. The rep previously had replaced my 100 foot hose twice, and while occassionally the 50 footer lasted a season, I've never had ANY heated hose last more than one season (and only two have lasted one). NEED MORE PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT! It's not that cold here, yet!

So far so good. You can taste the hose...
So far so good. The cord you plug in is at the city water side and about 6 feet so it connects easily to the electric pedestal. The thermostat switch is on the other end which has worked out fine. The coldest temp we've had so far was 4F / -16C.The water does have a hose taste to it after the water sits in the hose, which is why I gave it 4 stars. To compensate for this, we have a water pitcher that we fill up after we've ran a lot of water (after showers or washing dishes) so as to not get any that has been sitting in the hose.UPDATE: It lasted the entire two months (Dec 2017 and January 2018) that we were in Breckenridge. We'll be using it next year.

After one year of use!
I bought this and another Pirit heated hose for full time hookup to my tiny house off of a special water line from the permanent farmhouse. We had a cold winter Dec 2017 and Jan 2018 in Indiana with temps down to -10 F. Cold for us anyway! These HOSES worked great and never froze. We had a freeze up only three times last winter. In each case it was freezing at the connection points (oddly enough it didnt freeze at -10, but at slightly "warmer" temps instead). I insulated the connection points and was fine the rest of the winter. I also coupled two hoses together to get the length I needed. This apparently voids the warranty, but I am at my one year mark anyway. After storing them over the summer, they are back online and still work fine. I *think* I got a "version 2" hose, maybe? Which apparently is improved. Either way, I bought them on Nov 16, 2017.

Thermostat failed second season-ruptured
First season this kept water flowing all winter never froze worked great. Second season the thermostat fails and hose freezes and ruptures around spigot spraying water which shorted out my electrical under a sheet of ice. After many cordial emails with customer service they refused to replace their faulty hose being it was past 1 year despite only being used for 4 months. They just made excuses.First they claimed I must have heated the thermostat but my photos show that was the opposite end. Then they claimed it wasn't their hose till I provided more photos showing it was. Finally it was I've owned it too long.True. One season is apparently all it is good for.The hose was used for 4 months period. That hose failed through no fault of my own. It didn't even get touched once it was hooked up.We'll that was my experience. Good luck.

Pirit customer service made good ππ»ππ»ππ»
I bought this 50β & a 25β to set up on our RV. 25β goes to my filtering system and from there the 50β goes to the front of the RV to the inlet, the first freeze we discovered the 50β didnβt work and the 25β started leaking, so needless to say, wasnβt happy as passed the return window. Reached out to Pirit customer service and after emailing me I sent them a invoice copy from Amazon and the sent me new ones, this took about ten days UPS ground and thankfully the next freeze waited till after I got them installed lol, Pro very prompt customer service/ con they are very stiff hoses takes a bit to to get them to lay flat and use of slowest UPS delivery method but hey they where quick to reply and send replacement there for I give four stars overall

Only works for about 1 year
I have had 3 of these hoses in the last 4 years. I bought 2 and got a free one under warranty. Every year they freeze when it gets below 20 degrees. I live on a boat year around in the Washington DC area. It doesn't get that cold here often but when it does I need water so I bought one of these hoses. Looked great and easy to install. Just attach like you would any other hose, when winter gets here you plug it in. Easy right? It worked great first year but the first freeze on year 2 frozen. So I bought another because it was just out of the 1 year warranty. New hose worked great for the rest of the year but following year frozen solid on first real freeze. Got that one replaced under warranty. Well guess what? You got it first real freeze of 2019 and it is frozen solid again. Now I have to find out in freezing temperatures how to get water. Thanks Pirit.

Perfect - scratch that...
Haven't had it down to -40 yet, but had it at -30 and worked beautifully. At -10/-15 if the water sits for a bit, it is actually warm when you first run it. Hose lasted all of one month and crapped out, leaving me without water. Arrived the 4th of November, installed it the next day, died by December 8th. A couple of cold snaps, but most of the time was only -5 C to -10 C.

Heated part works well
Heater works well however itβs a crappy hose and couplings are too close to the hose end and canβt tighten without a wrench
