I purchased this multipurpose tool a few months ago and carry it on my key chain everyday. I haven't had any opportunity to try actually lighting a fire, but the striker makes a very good spark, so I have no doubt that with some effort I will be able to start a fire. I love this product because it has so many useful purposes and it's easy to carry right along with your keys. There are so many fire starter kits out there, but none that is as convenient to carry with you and the added features of glass breaker, self defense weapon, and whistle are just icing on the cake.

This is a very small item. I almost sent it back because of its size. Its more of a trinket than a real tool. I would hate to think that I would ever actually try to break a window with the "glass break". You would be better off using a rock or knife. Fire starter does spark, but again this thing is more toy like than a real way to start a fire. It is much shorter than a pen (about 4 inches). I threw it in a bag and it promptly bleed kerosene all over everything. Its a novelty, not much more.

whistle not loud enough, included sparker barely worked, although a sturdy knife blade made plenty of sparks. pointed weapon/glass breaker would be better than bare hands but not much. haven't tried , but it should beak tempered glass. haven't tried the tinder , but it should work. if i were going into the wild and wanted to travel light, i would be better off with a Bick lighter, plastic whistle and a medium size knife.

Terrible the carbide isn't sharp. It throws spark. But for a defense/winsome breaking tool it's a total waste of money I'm very disappointed in this product after waiting all week. I don't recommend.

Whistle is pathetic, it would probably be good if it was a little bit bigger and had a bigger chamber, for some reason they decided to make it smaller diameter than the rest of the tool, thus limiting its efficacy. The ferro rod is good size, I got better sparks by using the edge of the striker rather than the toothed end.

Very good quality product. Fire striker works very well, good sparks and had flames start right up when I tested it out on some paper. The kerosene soaked cotton that comes with it doesn't leak outside of the chamber at all so you don't have to worry about it getting on your hands or putting in your pocket. Working in EMS, I have used my window breaker many times but I'll be carrying this product with me from now on. It has a much sharper point and I'm confident it would break a window on the first try. OMG, this is the best pocket Fire Starter I have found. Mostly because of the non Fire Starter tools.Because it has a loud Whistle on one end and a Window Punch / Defense Point on the other, I will be using this a lot more that most Fire Starters. It's small enough to fit on most key chains and always have with you. EVERYONE should have an "EDC" Whistle, do YOU?I'm going to replace most of my other pocket/keychain Fire Starters with this tool. The teeny tiny Compass's on similar tools are useless. I think this is a much better option to have a working Whistle and Punch! Oh, and a Fire Starter for those emergencies that need one!I noticed that as soon as I ordered it sold out. I'll wait until it's in stock and buy again. GREAT BUY!

Great concept was so excited to receive it. Day three of having it on my key chain it fell off and was lost. I assume metal attachment point fell off.
