## Description

Blend a dollop of Enlightenment history for the lawyers and history buffs, a skosh of cool technology for the geekish, and a smidgen of business for the Wall Street crowd. Add to a boiling cauldron of passion and armed violence. Sprinkle with strong dialog and wit. Shazaam! Tomorrow’s headlines today, in Patriot and Assassin. Patriot and Assassin places the protagonist, Alejandro ‘Cooch’ Cuchulain, at the heart of a plot to release nerve gas in one of our nation’s busiest stadiums, then later into the sadistic hands of the terrorist who planned that attack. Cooch leads a Rhodes Scholar former Seal, a stunning female MacArthur winning physicist, a former USMC Master Sniper and the former director of the CIA’s special operations unit, now working in the White House. Together, they engage a large contingent of Al-Qaeda, among others, while working to improve the life of Muslims. Inspired by the evidence that Middle Eastern culture will be transformed positively when Muslims are convinced that transformation in their self-interest, Patriot and Assassin uses the proven lessons of the Enlightenment to expedite that transformation. More than simply sex and violence advance the story. Patriot and Assassin incorporates strong character development and powerful, thoughtful dialogue to drive this politico-thriller at a breakneck pace. The Enlightenment transformed the Western world in three hundred years. Cooch and company hope to transform the Muslim world in far less time, using technology, violence and lessons from the past. They neither disdain violence on this journey to improve, nor avoid using the latest technology to make both the journey and the violence easier. Action flows seamlessly from West Texas to Washington to Morocco to Yemen and back. Former CIA warrior Cuchulain is a strong male protagonist working with a dynamic female protagonist in Dr. Caitlin O’Connor. This thriller brings a fresh dynamic to the genre. Patriot and Assassin positions itself as the thriller for thoughtful readers interested in observing strong, complex characters meeting complex world-wide challenges.

Review: An exciting book and fun read - It is even better than his first book- COOCH. It is exciting, fun and thought provoking about Notional Security, threats to the USA, ideas about Muslims and Islam. Cooch, the main charcter, lives an exciting life of spying, fighting, killing bad guys but still has time for sex with beautiful and super intelligent girls along the way. Bob believe there is an answer to our current terrorist threats, which I have neer heard before. Bob may have the only long term answer, but you will have to read the book to find out. I really enjoyed the book and I look forward to the next book about Cooch. Tom
Review: Good Read - A Patriot and Assassin, the second book in Bob Cook's Cooch series was a very good read. I found the information and viewpoints on the Middle East fascinating. Cook's knowledge of and description of technology and how it is used was like a lecture but fun, not work. And I am most interested in his ideas on how education can be administered, very creative approaches, and the impact of education on the political situation. All useful messages. His treatment of women is also worthy of note. He has created strong, intelligent, self reliant woman in several cultures. I would like to see them play more of a part in future books. I am looking forward to the next release from Cook. His characters and plots are getting more and more interesting and I am most appreciative of the research and thought he has put into them.

### ⭐⭐⭐ Jumps the shark in this book
*by J***R on April 11, 2013*

OK the first book in this series was a typical superman and his girl type story. But the author pushes too far in this book. I would have given up about half way thru but wanted to see how it finished up. The first book, Cooch, was nonstop action. This one drags thru more than 50% of the book before any real action occurs. The author has a theory of eduction he wants to push and he does in interminable and boring detail. I'd say it takes up 50-60% of the text in the book. Nothing really happens until around the 70% point in the book. To briefly summarize without giving up much of the weak plot: -The bad guys as usual have a super deadly weapon they want to unleash on America. -The bad guys are of course led by a perverted mastermind. A weak shadow of Moriarty. -The hero is of course a genius. he has multiple Ph.Ds in diverse subjects. Has made multi-millions in the stock market. Joined the Marine at the age of 16 and apparently the CIA at the same time. Became death incarnate to the enemies of this country. Has a Medal of Honor father and a Bedouin super-businessman sheik as a grandfather. He has hands that could squeeze water from a stone and of course is erudite, urbane and handsome. -The heroine is smarter than Einstein, beautiful, tall and rich. With a black belt too, of course. She is a programming wonder who all by herself writes AI software that no one else can begin to understand. Including the clods at NSA. -She shows up the NSA people who seem to be a bunch of ill educated fools. When the actual truth is the agency is populated with very high level mathematicians and programmers. -The author makes to common error of describing things that he knows nothing about and hasn't bothered to research. The Special Warfare community in particular. He apparently heard the outdated term: Delta Force somewhere and so everything needing SpecWar activity is done by them. -He also doesn't really seem to have a grasp of firearms since his descriptions are unconvincing. So all in all he violates that law of writing: write about something that you know about. All in all a slow book, ill plotted with with unbelievable characters.
