"Good bittersweet pop ... the melodies roll out like chocolate, charming and smooth." -- Chicago Reader Aniseed is the fourth full-length from Chicago's The Atari Star. Half the tracks are sunny, upbeat, indie-pop rockers and the other half are lush, acoustic numbers adorned with Hammond B-3, bassoon, and cello. This time around, Marc Ruvolo's bittersweet vocals and intelligent lyrical themes are abetted by classically trained vocalist Dana Hammett and guitarist Casey Olin (Das Kapital). Additional arrangements and instrumentation supplied by Michael Perkins (Sig Transit Gloria, Far Rad).

you can rest assured I'm messing with your head
One of the most underrated albums of the early-aughts, this great Johann's Face release includes some of label owner Mark Ruvolo's greatest compositions including Astrid, Wie Ghet's, The Vagrant's Waltz & Double Predestination. This album also highlights the songwriting skills of guitarist Casey Olin whose contributions The Be All End All & Letter to Ernst bookend this great Chicago release.
