MC-0-M .011-.060" by .001" Minus Tolerance Pin Gage Set - 50 Gages

All seem to be between 1 and 2 tenths undersized, as described. That is 0.0001" to 0.0002" less then the nominal size, at least according to a Mitutoyu 10ths mic. Great value for the money!

I bought these to verify holes drilled in pc boards are the correct diameter (board manufacturers often change drill sizes from what you specify and never tell you afterwards). Pins are accurately ground to around 5 ten-thousandths undersized based on spot checking a few with a micrometer, so they are ideal for "go" testing a hole. They do come coated with a light machine oil and while I am not sure of the specific alloy used, it is rather resistant to bending, so probably a tool steel of some sort. The wells that the pins sit in appear to be mildly magnetized as they sit upright despite the wells being quite a bit larger in diameter, but the magnetic attraction is not strong enough to retain them should you knock the box over.

I need to make fine measurements all the time in my shop. I purchased these and they are accurately made and the box is sturdy enough, but not what I would like to see.

Great gauge pins, fantastically useful for figuring out "proprietary" jet sizes delivered with aftermarket VW carburetors.

I'll admit, I've never bought a pin set and hardly know what they're used for. If you know what you're looking for and go by the description of this product then you'll be ok. If you go the picture you'll be as disappointed as I was. The picture shows 171 pins when it actually comes with only 49. If I knew more about this product I may have been able to deduce that there were only 49 pins by calculating the measurements, however as stated I didn't. Main point, don't go by the picture that shows 171 pins. That is not what you'll get.

Product is a good value for the price.

Each one of the rods are as marked in the case. I measured each one with two different micrometers and the variance of the rods were +.0001 to -.0001 inch. The case advised -.0000 to +.0002 but these are still acceptable depending on what you are doing.

I was pleased with the fact that I could get a set of pins of this quality for such a good price. The box is a little cheep.
