Youth Digital Server Design 1 - Online Course for MAC/PC

As a web developer, I was initially skeptical this would really teach anything valuable about programming to my son. What sets this product apart from having your child simply read or watch tutorials about programming is the presentation. The narrator is fun, engaging, and thorough in his tutorials. My son is almost 13 and has been into Minecraft for 3 years. He had added mods and done op codes in the past, so I was curious if this would present anything interesting in addition. I will say he was engaged during the course and satisfied by the end it was a good choice. This was a fun way to introduce programming concepts including creating Java classes with methods. You will want to then follow with more traditional courses.This particular product delivery sold on Amazon arrives as a box which contains a code inside which is used to completely discount the full purchase price at checkout at the YouthDigital website.The course is a set of videos which play and introduce the concept, and an online Java editor with a workspace that allows the child to make edits, has a single button to push the changes to the cloud server, and then connect via their normal Minecraft game. That initially sounded complicated to me, but the video presentation makes it easy for your child to understand how to do it, and my son executed the instructions successfully the first time.Finally, you will need to ensure your child has a Minecraft account and game if they don't already have one to make use of their server creations.The cost of this course covers the cloud server hosting your child's server world for 1 year, and obviously recouping the video production which was top-notch for a programming course.

I'm so disappointed! Our pediatrician recommended this product last year for my 8 yr old son as a way to use screen time constructively. We ordered this program in April and due to computer issues, etc, I was just getting around to downloading it today. Unfortunately, it looks like YouthDigital has been absorbed by Apex.com. And according to the YouthDigital website, the codes are only good for 30 days after purchase....I had no idea! Also, YouthDigital website says that these programs sold through Amazon aren't valid codes anyways. Again, I had no idea! So disappointed!

Not worth the price; 1 year access to the content only. If your child doesn't finish or is interested in going back you have to buy it again. You can find something comparable on another learning site that you own for life.

Bought this course when it was first announced through youth digital and so far the course has been very informative and fun. My son truly understand what They are teaching. This is the second course that I've purchased from youth digital. I bought my son mod design 1 and it was a no brainer to buy this also. I know that the price is high, but this will teach your kids some good programming skills. I did use a coupon through their site to get it cheaper, but it's worth the investment.

My son loves it and we have both server design and the mod designer.
