Raku Japanese Style Tatami Platform Bed King, Honey Oak

Love this bed!!!! was however, missing a piece as are all things I order online. Didn't matter and I still love the bed

I purchased the Raku Tatami Bed in the natural wood king size. I’m quite unhappy as I did not expect that the wood would be many pieces of wood glued together. The description of the product says “all slats are solid wood” and “the Raku bed is made from solid Para wood”. This is misleading language.This is also marketed as an eco product with no certification as to the non-toxic products used.I was impressed by the fast shipping, and how the product fits together. But advertising this as solid wood is false advertising.

I love the design of this bed and the Japanese joinery really appealed to me not requiring hardware, well almost none. The wood is ok, not the best hardwood out there but you get what you pay for. The color of the honey oak was lighter than I expected or preferred but I didn't want the dark walnut color either. The 9" legs are very low but if you use a 12" mattress I guess it's not bad. I prefer low beds but this one is hard to get up from sometimes. Almost one year in and no issues except one of the slats broke when my kid was jumping on the bed. overall good product.
